Eish! Buy a R1200GS an you'll discover extortionate prices and lack of spares are a problem for new bikes as well as old. Since a wrench on the handlebars and a yank on the wires is set to cost over £1000 on the 1200 GS (thanks bike thieves), I decided to upgrade... ...at least one can keep the old ones running in good nick with string, duck tape and epoxy (well, almost :))

Thanks to Dave in Crewe for a well turned out machine, I now have this little 1981 R65...

Yes, it has it's quirks. I'd forgotten how to change gears, the bike dives a bit more than the GS, and the brakes are a lot duller. But I still nearly ran out of ability going too hot into corners coming over the Peak District (just lean it over more :blast) and it still hits 70mph. Maybe this will be less of a target for thieves!

You've kept the 12 then.

I often think a 100gs would be a nice replacement for me 12. Trobble is when I ride Jills 100 I realise I'm still not ready to part with mine. :nenau

Not stopping me looking for a well priced airhead though. Nothing wrong with having two is there.
