Location
Conwy Valley, north Wales. Best place in the world
Set off this morning for a ride and to meet up with a good mate, Trangwales.
Thought I would take a few pics on the way, photos are from my phone so not brilliant.

Looking towards Snowdon

From there we went to Beddgelert

Be careful not to fall off the edge

And we ended up dropping down into Penmachno, so which way now?

Let's go over the top again past this entrance to a famous green lane

Then we went into Betws Y Coed for a cuppa to finish the day off, too bloody busy so up the road to Capel Curig and Bryn Glo cafe

To the end of a cracking day out. :thumb

... and thanks again Dave.
ps he showed me what the Tourances are for as well ... ploughed another field somewhere above Dolwyddelan ... :augie:augie

Now that would have been fun on the GS's... :eyebrow

Didn't realise that there was so much tarmac in Wales - great pics, thanks for posting! :thumb2

I used to ride this on a RMX250, bloody difficult then, not a hope on a GS:D

The biggest bike I've heard of doing Bwlch-y-Groes was an X-Challenge - and that took 6.5 hours... :augie

If you're ever up here give me a shout.

Thanks, Dave, as soon as I can use my arm again I might take you up on that offer... :thumb2

I thought I recognised that. A shudder passed down my spine. :eek
Mark

I thought I might have a go on the mountain bike ... but on the other hand :nenau

Here's the route log for those of you interested in repeating the event ...
And before anyone says the 'exciting bit' isn't really ... well it was for me.
1. See steep hill covered in shit, grass and gravel
2. Panic :tears
3. Grab front brake till it locks bnige
4. Wait until whites of eyes show (or ABS comes in) before letting go of brake :bash:bash
5. Learn how to control skid
6. Ignore laughter from friend riding behind
:jes

Me giggling, never :augie

Any chance of a screen dump of the route, don't have the software on the Mac:blast

Well, it isn't really - it's further west towards Dolwyddelan, isn't it? :angel

Respect for doing the trail on a mountain bike though, that must have been hard work (especially with friends like Dave...) :augie

If you open the route file, I've put a marker at the start of Bwlch y Groes. The interesting bit was perfectly normal for yer average GSer, but it was a bit focussing for me.
I've added the route as a GoogleEarth file - I think I've got the thing right ....
I haven't done it on a mountain bike, but I can feel a challenge in the air ...

Just having a look at it on google earth and there are only 5 waypoints joined up by straight lines, do you have another file with more waypoints? :thumb

I've managed to create one that has all the track points I took out :nenau and without the waypoints :nenau ... but it's now too big to be uploaded, so I've sent it to your small church dot org address:thumb2
