A Shocked TMF

After reading through this thread, I was amazed at the behaviour of some.
TMF posted a video of his experience which highlighted the outrageous cost of a replacement shock.
He sourced one else where and got back on the road, same as we all would have done.

He has always been positive when commenting on the service of the dealer involved and even though a hic up occurred this time, they stood up and put it right.
Good result and well done to them.

Sad part of this whole affair, is the racists, bigots and the down right abusive trash that crawled from under their rocks and had nothing positive to say.

You should look back and 're read the whole thread and you may then be as embarresed as myself with what so called educated intelligent people think is ok to write.

And no,I don't know the dealer or TMF personally before it's suggested.

I've been reading this shit for over 14 years. What surprises me is eventually they disappear, only to be replaced by another. Seen it all before.
Hope my shocks last:D

Totally agree with everything you've said

Racists? Bigots? :nenau

I believe they use gas for the damping hence the seal leaks

Of course i could be talking B*llox as ususal

The shocks use oil to damp, the gas part is a bladder, usually of nitrogen, to help maintain a constant pressure in the shock.

I have been on many bike forums over the years....and I've never seen one like this...

Whilst I agree with the majority of what Gimlet said, I’ve not seen any form of racism or bigotry in this thread.

Need to reply; Reference my comment of racisism and my reasoning.

"Maybe one way is to not buy it from a Lithuanian"
You might as well said don't by second hand parts full stop.
How many of you have bought a spare SH part from within the UK and found it was not fit for purpose.
Was the seller English, Welsh, Scots, irish, so would you have said the same?
Latvia has a lower tax rate and buying from a dealer there can save you hundreds of pounds as I personally have found out.
If I was to offer you a saving of over a thousand pounds would you think dodgy and say do not buy from an Englishman?
I don't think so from looking at the forum page relating to offers!

Ps, Blackal.
I don't tend to talk shift, but I will always help defend those that I see being wronged if possible.

Pretty sure that Lithuanian is not not a race.

If he had said - don't buy from Lithuania? Any better?

If you simply avoided buying anything from someone living in Nigeria - due to the amount of scams......... are you racist for having that reservation?

Or - does it become racist when you tell someone of your reservation?

Or, in order to make sure that no-one branded you with being "racist" would you make sure you trusted them the way you would a UK vendor on the internet- regardless of the method of payment?

Is this a wind up? :nenau

Does a Lithuanian not originate from Lithuania and someone Scottish usually come from Scotland?
Generally we all need to take care when buying from anyone, but point being we should not label a whole nation as being untrustworthy when it comes down to an unproven thought or comment.
In today's world of political correctness derogetory remarks against a nationality can and will be misconstrued as racist.

As you have ably demonstrated.

My curiosity is leaning towards this BMW Sachs shock.

I'm not sure how expensive rear shocks are for motorcycles, especially ESA type.

Is £1800 an average price, or is it considered very high (compared to other ESA type shocks)... aftermarket or OEM.

Anyone know?

The ESA rear shock for a XT100ZE Yamaha Super Tenere is £1671.78! Not had to replace if but found the answer here
