No drama, no alps, no mountain passes or Moroccan herdsmen. Just a bimble out for the sake of it and to blow out a few cobwebs.
It’s such a beautiful morning here that I just HAD to go for a ride. I mean, we’ve had under two inches of rain, it’s about six degrees, the wind’s at 40mph, so it’s practically summer. I’ve had severe withdrawal symptoms lately as I’ve been off the bike for one reason and another. Sod the rain - it’s always good to ride.
One of the things I love about the GS is the way it matches your mood. This morning I just fancied a bimble - lots of backlanes, byways and B roads. This is where a set of Vern’s boxes comes in handy too. No chance of sinking in one of the roadside lakes with floatation aids this size:
So, suitably in bimble mode I head out of Bampton with a vague destination of Uffington in mind, with Oxfordshire’s own Alpine passes up the side of White Horse Hill. Well, a few cornery bits anyway.
It’s a pretty little village, Uffington. Although I’m a little puzzled as to why there’s a tree on the top of the Church:
Given that I was counter-steering into the wind to stay upright, I suspect it just blew there.
