Doesn’t seem to happen often, but it does happen.
On my my way home from Coffee and Chrome at Bicester Heritage in the car last night, I had an unwanted close encounter with a deer. I saw it as it leapt out from the hedge in front of me, stood on the brakes and stopped in time but it doubled back and clattered into the car, got up and ran off.

Anyway, after a quick visit to the body shop this morning, turns out a new bumper is needed, at £4000 plus fitting, so I decided to do it through the insurance.

Called the claims number, got straight through, bloke took a few details and said as soon as I’d emailed him back my DVLA check he’d get the claim going, with an authorisation to my body shop on Tuesday.

He asked if I needed a courtesy car, which I don’t, so he waived my £500 excess!

Took no more than 15 minutes.

Much better than my deer impact experience back in March. Five months later and the car has joy just been repaired last week. The wait was due to no replacement bumpers being available anywhere n Europe!

You want to (or rather don't) take one on while riding the bike...

During the, now renamed "Who killed Bambi" tour of Spain 2019, venison was a by-product of an encounter twixt Santander and Hotel del'Oso, new pannier and pants required...
