If I couple two air compressors together will I double the cfm
IE..1 air compressors cfm is 50 then I buy exactly the same compressor with an output of 50 cfm, connect them together with a " T " piece will my air flow be 100 cfm ?
I need this one to be right because the wife is going nuts at the mo'
Thank You in advance for any help....Tosh..

Yes, each will deliver 50 cfm (maybe reduced a bit if the line size after the T-piece isn't adequate). You won't get greater pressure though.

You might find it better if you couple them both to the same pressure switch. Depending on what you're doing, it sometimes helps if you just add an additional tank. We used to use an old calor gas bottle which would give us enough air to spray a door or wing but using a smaller compressor. It obviously then took longer to fill up.

I think we're talking two industrial Hydrovanes for that type of output. I think he's going to put a rocket into space with that rate.

I'll stand far away if that's alright:hide

Thanks guys,

Problem..I need a compressor to run an air impact gun..Im 6100 snap on..50 - 400 torque

I have bought a cheap compressor- 50 L tank, running 90 PSI (115 PSI MAX)) I think it runs 7CFM. The impact wrench wont even take the wheel nuts off of the car !!!

Looking at the professional ones they run 12CFM and 150 PSI upwards. Ive been doing some research and if I buy the same compressor again and "double up" In theory I will then have 100 litres, and a CMF of 14 BUT still only 90 to 115 PSI...

Will my torque wrench work with these values ?? or will the PSI need increasing...

Once again I'm sorry its not bike related I just need a friend...Tosh.

I bit the bullet and bought 2 compressors and doubled them up...The impact gun ripped through the nuts like butter....Oh yeah baby....Tosh

Aha, now that's a bit different to 100cfm innit:rolleyes:

Well done, good result and a happy bunny with loose nuts:D

you will find that if you run 10-15mm internal bore air hose along with correct fittings for such it would have worked as standard hose at worst is 6mm or best 8mm internal

well thats what got my ingersol rand working 1400ft lb off 50l 8cfm compressor
