My pal Les and I recently went for a wander around Scotland - 900 miles in 3 days. It’s fair to say the weather was very Scottish hence the clouds in the pics and the thorough testing of waterproofs! Having said that it didn’t rain all of the time and when the sun was out it was spectacular.

The route was roughly:-

Day 1 Newcastle over to Fort William via Callender and Glen Coe - 260 miles

Day 2 north following the west coast via Ullapool, Cape Wrath and along the north coast stopping in Tongue or Tunga as they like to call it – 270 miles.

Day 3 back down through the central highlands - a lot of single track roads in the far north picking up the A9 briefly then over past Pitlochrey, Loch Tay then cutting back south east and home.

I’ll definitely be going back much of northern Scotland was very reminiscent of the Alps only a much wilder and varied landscape.

Cheers :beerjug:

Nice pics, I was up in the West Highlands a few weeks ago and loved it

I had the same Scottish weather read wet! but strangely I didn't mind one bit and I think in some degree it enhanced the trip i.e. it was particularly bad weather when I visited the Commando memorial which gave a bit more idea as to how difficult the training would of been in those sort of conditions and landscape
