Was at carlisle today and went across the A69.....jeez! never seen so many speed cameras! 3 fixed, including the burnt out one at haydon bridge (by the way, what are those small ones, much higher up than the grey box type?) 2 'safety camera' vans and a police volvo / bike duo with enough camera equipment to shame the BBC!.....summit up?

Try the A65 out of Leeds- 27 speed cameras in 9 miles

Blue cameras on poles are AA roadwatch to monitor traffic flow, camera equipment in the cars is nothing to do with speeders it's purpose is something totally different, although they do still have all the gear to do you for speeding if you donn't spot a 1.5 ton flourescent blue and yellow volvo sitting in full view at the side of the road.
Think thats bad try the roads north of the border towards Edinburgh

Hexham police station does like it's unmarked cars.

That's one of the big differences between norhumbria police and Durham Police. Durham are interested in driver education and northumbria want your cash - they don't seem much interested in the accident reduction through education aspect. You may guess which force I respect.

They were out on the moors road just out of Guisborough yesterday, it's nice to see our taxes put to good use
Yet I bet I saw at least 20 people using their phones while driving, the cameras don't see that and I know who is most likley to cause an accident. To do anything about that would take man power so we won't see that crime punnished too often will we

Neil w, not those ones, these are deffo cameras as the road is marked underneath them. They are about half the size of the grey boxes, yellow, and about twice as high. This is the only road I've ever seen them.
Mort, a tentative yes for the weekend.....I hope!
