A80 Problems

Wonder if anyone can help.

I have an A80 but no sound comes out, the green light is showing RX and the bar gauge in the display, but no sound. Any ideas?

It may sound stupid but have you made sure the volume is on? (up and down arrows adjust)

Are you using the radio on its own or with something plugged into the headphone jack? If using with headphones (or through intercom) try without to eliminate a break in a headphone cable. If using on its own - is there anything in the headphone socket which could be making a connection therfore bypassing the radio speaker?

Don't know what else to suggest. Never had any problems with mine...

Yeh I have done all the obvious things. Just using it as a hand held. It shows it's receiving but no sound. I have read the manual and it says if you hold down the button below the PTT you can hear static, and I can hear static. Looks like a call to Intaride on Monday.

Fixed it!!!

Was also using a cheap Alan radio I borrowed from work. Turned the CTCSS of on the A80 and it worked. The Alan didn't have CTCSS on it so the A80 would receive but the volume would be muted!!

And worth bearing in mind if I ever use mine with another brand radio...
