Abandoned airhead in Italy , anyone's ?

Really unbelievable, Giacomo starts a thread trying to help someone out and you bunch of twats manage to turn it into this fiasco - and still nobody has done anything to solve the problem.

Don't tar us all with the trippy brush, lots of good suggestions, action [interim] has been taken...
This is the airhead section, we just get on with it...
If the owner wanted it repatriated, sure I'd go and get it..
Also if it was disposed of for scrap, I'd try and do a deal on it.

As I did with the /5 abandoned in Holland years ago...

.I'm always up for a jolly round Europe......:driving
so is Devon..:thumb2

I think the mans got a point. We should be embarrassed that we can turn such a simple job into a feckin mountain. :(

Am I right in thinking that no one knows the owners identity..?
The authorities know the owners identity, but because they're terrified of the Data Protection Act nobody will look it up and ring him. Personally I would like to see someone in authority take the initiative and pick up a phone. Feck me, nobody is suggesting that they disclose the owners details to a 3rd party. Hell, it's a simple 2 minute job.

The solution is to donate it to the local mechanics school... Easy, see! :thumb2
Not if the owner intends going back to fetch it, it isn't. We don't know what his plans are because the people who can find out .... feel their hands are tied by the Data Protection Act. :blast

Either the owner has a). knowingly abandoned it, b). died, or c) intends to collect it.

Surely the Airport parking people can communicate with the owner, via the DVLA..?

Exactly.

a) So won't worry if it goes to a local college.
b) So won't worry if it goes to a local college.
c) May well be p*ssed off if someone has taken it.

If it is C, why does anyone on here think the owner is incapable of fetching his own bike and need the help of a few tossers on a bike forum?

Definitely not amused if it was scrapped by the airport authority:eek:. Please read and follow the thread. This bike would have been scrapped if the op had not shown a genuine interest. Bike has been moved and made safe, airport parking authority informed and active steps taken to contact the owner. I can only assume when you went to school it was closed:thumb

All pretty pointless speculation. The only worthwhile thing to do is to contact the owner by whatever means and find out what he wants to do.

If it wasn't for those meddling kids...

I have followed the thread.
I am aware that the OP has moved the bike so it doesn't get scrapped :thumb2
I am aware that the airport authorities have been made aware and they may or may not try to contact the keeper.
I am aware that if it isn't claimed it may be scrapped or given to a local college.
I did go to school.

So tell us please: Why, if you know and accept all these answers and possibilities, do you continue on your stolid little path? Making it plain that either you just can't help yourself or you are just one of those people who won't shut up even if everyone aggreed with your point of view or untill everyone has you on their ignor list. :nenau

Actually I'm quite looking forward to meeting you at the Exmoore Exploorer bash. I can't believe you would be quite so objectional in real life (though I can't help thinking that I might well find you seated in a corner preaching your 'Err' views to any one that comes with in hearing distance). Why anyone would insist on forcing everyone to think of themselves as a complete prat I can't understand at all. :nenau

Val.

Val it started with me merely pointing out that the idea of someone driving to Italy to 'recover' a shed of a bike for an unknown keeper whos motives for leaving it there were unknown was a stupid one and possibly illegal.

Not sure why my opinion was seen as shit stirring and why it is acceptable for people to call me a prick, a cnut and various other names, but my use of the words t*** and f*** get censored out.

Well now.... I've been thoroughly entertained and intrigued by this thread. Spent the best part of an hour or so, catching up and wondering if it'll have a happy ending...?
Started to turn into an Eastenders episode for a moment there and was kept busy dodging handbags. :hide

But on the whole.. Very interesting.
