Abba Skylift

You can make bobbins to suit different bikes, I’ve used my Skylift on a number of bikes that it doesn’t have bobbins specifically dedicated to and when I bought mine about 5-6 years ago they sold a so called workshop set where you got a tray full of adaptors. I either use the swinging arm pivot or engine mounting bolts towards the back and have previously lifted a bike by mounting deep sockets on the heads of bolts but you need to make sure the Skylift is tightened up really well if you’re going down that route.

That's the Set I have, now spectacularly referred to as a "Technician Set" :D

If the Skylift shares the same Fitting System as the Bike Stand then there are Fittings within their Range which will work.
I have the Bike Stand and Technicians' Kit which contains numerous different Fittings.
In the Instructions it states that it may be a case of "Best Fit" where specific Fittings aren't available.
I haven't yet had cause to use it on my GSA, but I've just been and had a look to see if there are any in the Kit which would be suitable and there is certainly one for the Near Side.
I'll have a proper look tomorrow and let you know which Codes best suit the Bike if that helps at all?

They use the same mounts and the same principle but you need to strap the bike to stop it pivoting if you want it up at maximum height. Just remember that if it’s very close to the balance point simply dropping a wheel can make your heart rate increase in an instant :blast

I have no experience of the Sky Lift, it's the Bike Stand I have.
I use it with my Hydraulic Bench.

I’ve got both a bike stand and a Skylift and they work the same way. I’m lucky in that I’ve got a small lathe so I can make adaptors to suit whatever I want without worrying about buying things that may or may not work and the biggest advantage with the Skylift is that I can hang a bike on it then when I’m done for the day I just push it sideways against the wall of my workshop and don’t lose a load of space.

Here we go with a bit of home made bodging

Great replies guys thank you for the responces still keen on the Abba skylift.

I was looking at the bike this afty in relation to the Easyrizer I'm sure the BMW cylinder heads will be a problem for that type of lift.

I will call ABBA tomorrow.

The adapters that Lucas posted work on lots of Oil Head bikes. I've used the same adapters on my old 1100BCR, 2006 1200S, 2012GSA, and 2016 Urban g/s

Phoned them today and discussed the older pre 13 bike issue, They confirmed (as mentioned earlier in this thread) the bike will fit but because the drive shaft is on the opposite side as the new bikes you have to use a little ingenuity to use the lift properly.

So i have taken the plunge and ordered one :D and still got the Black Friday deal.

Nice one. . Let us know how you get on with the lift.

Hi Lucas, i will do and thank you so much for posting the pictures that pretty much swayed it for me :thumb

Ive owned an Abba Skylift for some time and it works really well with my Blackbird.
So I was very disappointed to discover - after buying my 2012 GSA - that there were no Abba fittings for it.
If a solution can be found I'll be delighted!

Hi Stroller, I did notice it for sale yesterday and thought how ironic.

I ordered the Abba lift last week half of it turned up on Friday should get the rest on Monday.

GLWTS

No worries, that's how things go. I have noticed the Big Blue's don't seem to come up for sale very often.
