I have a 02 GS with ABS and no Servo. The other day while coming to a stop and just about to put my foot down, the front ABS activated. Now it is doing it everytime I am about to stop at an extremely slow speed. It is at the point when I am about to put my foot down that this is happening so seems strange to be doing so at such low speed.
I changed the pads a few weeks ago and it only feels like a strong brake in the lever in the past few days. So could this be the problem that the pads have now bed in and given their strength I just have to get use to this until they wear a bit?:nenau

Was there much crud around the pistons?

Did you use a cloth or wee brush and clean it off?

Did the pistons push back in easy or did you struggle?

Once you fitted the brake pads did you check that the brake reservoir is not now overfull?

When the pads drag on the disc heat is generated, heat expands the fluid which normally just compresses that rubber boot in the master cylinder but if the fluid has been topped up whilst the pads were low there's no room left and all it can do is push the pads out which in turn gernerates more heat etc etc?

Fitting new pads will more than likely overfill the brake system leaving no where for expansion

Have you checked the ABS/Sensor Ring airgaps?.
You maybe missing pulses at low speed.

No Crud around pistons when I changed the pads.
Pistons went back fairly normally.
Never topped up fluid when low so should be at normal level now but is something to check.
Thanks for help.

Low speed ABS modulation is caused by the signal from the sensor of the affected wheel deminishing in amplitude below a point the ABS ECU recognises as a valid signal. This is usually caused by the air gap being incorrect or high resistance in the sensor. Any probs get in touch http://www.cveglos.co.uk

Look for any teeth missing or chipped on the abs sensor ring.
