Since today the ABS on my new 1200 GS doesn't work anymore. I still have brakes, thank God, but not power-assisted anymore. The red light for ABS (on my dashboard) flashes all the time.
Before I go back to my dealer: did anybody already have the same problem. How was it solved? What was the origin of that problem? By the way, the brake light is working all the time, even when I'm not using the brakes (or what is left from them).

Sounds like the good old brake light switch problem. Do a search on this forum section and you'll find other references to it.

I recall something about the rear brake switch being stuck on causing a problem with the braking system.

Sounds like you have only the 'Residual Braking Function' - NO power assistance or ABS -as the self diagnosis check cannot be completed because the system thinks one of the brakes is on all the time as your brake light is on all the time, possibly caused by a faulty or mal adjusted switch. If the ABS light is flashing at a rate of 4 times a second this would back this theory up.

I also asked my dealer today about this problem. He already once had the same - it should be something with a brake being activated for some reason all the time (in that case it was caused by the rear brake). I checked rear brake and front brake and I saw that the handle of the front brake couldn't turn back completely in its original position (pushing a bit against the protector for some reason - a question of some millimeters). As Cestria already said, in that case the self diagnosis check cannot be completed because the system thinks one of the brakes is on and the ABS system is not activated.
I changed the "grip distance" a bit and the problem was solved.
Thanks a lot for your reactions!!:)
