ABS and Speed Sensors

Good evening all.
RE R1200GS 2008.
I have done a bit of reading regarding ABS because the "Brake Fail" popped up today and now stays on. What I want to have confirmed is whether the speed sensors are responsible for informing the ABS of what is happening with the wheels so that's why it could be responsible for the warning light?

Check the sensors air gaps and check the rear hasn't attracted any metal particles.

Yes it could be the sensors but it could be other things as well. If your speedo is still working properly then it's unlikely to be the sensor in the FD. Always worth checking battery voltage as well. Outside that then your probably going to be quicker and cheaper getting the fault codes read.

Found a break in the wire to the rear wheel speed sensor so problem solved (I hope :-@)

Care to enlighten us where exactly the break is, for future assistance if it happens to one of us ??

It's actually my fault. There are two clips that hold the wire out of harms way. I only used one so the wire was able to rub agains the break disc :-O
