ABS brakes locking the wheel with clunk noise

hi to everyone .
i have a 1200gs 06" plate with the ABS and i realized that if I press the brakes really hard to stop, i get some clunking noise and the wheel gets stuck and skids for short sequences.
It only does it at low speeds and if I'm on my own on the bike.what I'm concerned about is the shocks that the FD is going trough every time. i forgot to mention that I've just replaced the FD which had a 2 mm play on the spline bearings with a new one , just after 16k miles.

That's what ABS does, though. Stops the wheel from locking completely by releasing the brake in a series of 'pulses'. Surely you knew that?

Got nowt to do with the shaft.
 
:rob When braking heavily, it is advised to pull clutch at the same time, so that drive train and rear wheel are free from engine forces.

In this case the brakes will outperform any braking effect from the engine.
Furthermore, if the engine is interfering with your heavy braking, it interferes with a carefully thought out braking system, which then cannot function properly on the rear wheel. Not to mention how this will interfere with the ABS at rear wheel. Even more so if you are downshifting and use engine effect in each gear; the changing forces on the rear wheel make for uncontrolled rear wheel behaviour.

In short, using engine effect to slow down is ill-advised for emergency braking.
