Thanks for the offer Doctor, have to take a long ride weekend after next so need to try and get sorted before then and you are a bit far away to visit before then!

Easy way order up a new or guaranteed used one , (Make Sure and "Remind" them that the cable should not be packed with the cable bent a stupid angle especially on the used one!!!)
I got one and some cnutmuffin had packed it so the exit point of the cable from the sensor was under a huge strain and it didnt work
A replacement was sent posthaste and All I had to do was plug it in without dismantling the bike and clear the codes and bingo that was it
You must be very very careful these parts are coming on for 10 years old now bent cables have a tendancy to break the wires anything with a decent mileage will have suffered lots of vibes and heat and cooling cycles in that time

P.S. Remove your rear wheel Did you re- fit your spacer Shim between them wheel and drive flange
Is the end of the ABS sensor like a ploughed field now ?? If So order new sensor and find the wheel spacing Shim
P.P.S. In the Fusebox there is a Blue relay Pulling that out and CAREFULLY storing it, should stop the lights flashing but leave you with a red warning light You will Not Have any ABS but the brakes should work as normal on ABS II systems
P.P.P.S. Remember to make sure you have an airgap between the sensor and the pulse ring or it wont work when you go quick and if you are really unlucky you'll buff through your new sensor!

Do you have both Abs sensors plugged in okay and not caught up on anything?
If you order a rear (which is "most likely") and it isn't it, you can also plug it in at the front (same sort of impedance) to see if the front sensor has gone

And I'm not a complete numpty (although I am sure there are those who would beg to differ).
Can't find anyone with a secondhand one anyway - going to get mate to check continuity with multimeter before paying for a new one (£115 from Motorworks!)

It's not clear from the eBay listing for your sensor, which model it came off of.
The ABS sensors for your model (pre 9/2002) and those models (post 9/2002) are different.
Yours is ABS2 the later models have IABS (aka ABS3 or Servo brakes).
It is highly likely you have the correct one, but if you experience difficulties when trying to fit it. Then it could be you have the wrong one.
The pre 09/2002 sensors have a black plug
The post 09/2002 sensors have a white plug.
Both the eBay listings have a white plug, so are the wrong type for your bike. More importantly the listing in Germany actually details the part no which confirms it as being for the post 09/2002 models (iABS / ABS3 / servo brakes ).

Oh bugger, thanks - tried to work out from pictures on Motorworks site which was which but was unclear, and guy selling was not sure but can send it back for refund. Shall try taking part and testing for continuity tomorrow to confirm it is rear sensor before I do anything else.
Any progress Grim ?
