Just getting my first ABS kitted bike out of hibernation, I went for a spin and the ABS never kicked in(had alternate flashing lights on the dash)i couldnt seem to turn ABS off either,IMO its a battery that hasnt reached its full charge despite a long charge
so does anyone recommend a good/overnight session with an optimate or is it off to the dealers with a full wallet and a heavy heart
any advice gratefully received
cheers

not sure if 1150 the same as 1100 abs, but sounds the same as my 96 1100 same probs, a weak battery. This does it for mine turn all lights off, ing on and hit abs button, start bike. The abs should stop flashing and light should stay on. Run bike until warm then turn off, as soon as you turn on again hit starter button, this tricks the abs computer into thinking theres more life in the battery. If it works thank Darren at south london motorcycles thats who showed me .hope it helps

Buy an Optimate (or similar) for when the bike is not used. You're unlikely to have a repeat of your problem.

However, when you get this problem, ride a few miles down the road - at the first traffic lights, turn off the engine and restart. That normally fixes it.

This is surely a design flaw. Why didn't BMW design or adapt a system which operated at, say, a minimum of 9v? Then this problem wouldn't exist?

thanks for your help a mixture of an overnight charge and turning the engine off and restarting seems to have cured it thanks a lot guys

Try a Hawker

The simplest way to sort this one is to invest £85 with Motorworks on a Hawker battery,

It will do just what it says...........2-3 times the cranking power of a normal battery and more importantly.......

NO DISCHARGE FOR UP TO TWO YEARS !

No need to trickle charge........fit and forget !:beerjug:
