ABS II failure, new story and problem identified. But but but...

The wires are:-
green/black (terminal 5) and white/black (terminal 11) for the warning light.
green/yellow (terminal 10) and brown ( terminal 1) for the ABS light.

What I got on the warning light (lower one) is white/black and green/dirty brown or green/grey.

Also found that, but don't know if it's really for a 2000 1150GS :

And these alphanumeric signs remain a little bit hermetic for me.

Well OK given there may be slight wiring anomalies. I’m referencing the Official Wiring diagrams. The tracer colour can be difficult to read sometimes.

With that said.

The Green wire should have +12volts via Fuse 1 which should be easy to check by removing the bulb and checking at the bulb holder contact.

The White wire will be difficult check, as it is a switched earth or switched low voltage from the ABS module.

A little trick I use when trying to find cable faults, particularly where you have access to the wires, is to use a dress makers pin and push it through the insulation until it makes contact with the wire. The small hole left behind usually seals itself when you remove the pin. An application of a small dab of grease would do no harm.

Took off the relay to check it, sounds OK. But but but somebody has already been in there

And made a short

If water can go in the harness, it can now get easily out

Lower light finally turns on

When I grounded the white/black cable.

but but but without flashing.

There’s a relay in the abs modulator which fail, it’s under the plastic cover where the electrical connections are.
not to hijack this thread but, is this replaceable Steptoe? my abs2 bike has a flashing lower light (controlled by the relay in the fuse box as i understand) but the upper isn't lit, which is controlled by the relay/ circuitry on the abs unit itself i believe. Ive done the basic checks of dash bulbs etc but about to start tearing into the abs unit itself next to investigate.

The servo/abs modulator doesn’t have a relay.

now im confused... its abs 2 so non servo type
I only know servo/abs or plain ABS on the 1150 models. .. I thought abs 2 was the version that was introduced after the servo/abs and only fitted to the 1200 models.

Confirming what I posted, only 2 types of abs on the 1150 models ABS or Servo/ABS .. :D
I really don’t know why some people question your fantastic knowledge? :nenau

earlier as in the non servo system fitted to the early 1150s carried over from the 1100 models, then replaced with the servo type. anyway, back to the question, abs2 unit has an integral relay, which i removed and it checks out working ok on a bench supply, so it aint that thats causing the upper light not to work, back to the multimeter probing!
