ABS light help

Ive had problems before with the ABS lights on my 2002 1150 gs but that was a knackered battery. They are now flashing alternatvley.. Ive read various threads but am now more confused so any help would be appreciated.
The bikes been running with no issues but yesterday i started the engine crawled forward a bit (about 5 metres as i was blocked in) very slowly so the bike wouldnt have been over 5mph to allow the self test to turn of lights but then i noticed the abs lights were flashing alternatively.
I turned engine off but when i now turn key on to first stage (without starting engine)they now flash alternatively and stay flashing like that throughout the ride. if i press the abs button it stops both lights and the bottom light stays on. brakes appear to work fine. fluids all look OK with no leaks. the brake light is ok and the front brake is not hitting the guard. Any ideas please. I have read about a reset but dont understand that and ideas on what it may be causing it.

Resetting R1150GS ABS2

Locate the round diagnostic connector on top of the air box

Remove the protective cap by unscrewing.

If you look at the rear of the connector, you will see the sockets are numbered and the wire colours

With a wire, ground the brown/blue stripe wire (pin #2) and keep it grounded.

If you can't find a suitable earth point to attach the ground wire to, then use the negative (-ve) terminal of the battery.

Turn the ignition on

Hold the ABS button down for about 8 seconds.

Release the ABS button.

Turn off the ignition, remove wire.

This should reset your ABS.

Take it for a ride to check.

Ian's instructions are absolutely right. A couple of things to add to them. You can't really fail to find a ground, as pin 4 in the diagnostic connector is a ground. You can ground out pin 2 to pin 4 with a paper clip. Also, if it doesn't work, try the same process for a minute instead of 8 seconds.

Dunno. Mine needs resetting from time to time. I guess every 9 months or so, which is every 10,000 miles of hard use. No idea what causes it.
