My general fault light came on an d the ABS light is flashing at 4Hz. Does this mean that the servo is buggered? 05 Adv with only 20k done. Advice needed!!

Check your brake bulb....visually, not by applying brake (your clever bike uses different voltages to fool you if a filament is gone),

Chances are it's just a blown filament.

Will do. It started off today fine but within a few mile was flashing again. Same on the way home.

Changed the bulb today and problem went.... for about 40 miles and then returned! I think it is the rear brake causing the problem. The rear brake micro switch.

Had a similar fault on my previous 1150GS, replaced the stop / tail light bulb and it cured it for a few miles, then light came on again. I carefully tweeked the spring contacts in the bulb holder so they made a stronger contact with the bulb and never had another problem. Worth a try. :thumb

Brake light flashing

If its not your tail light globe, check the level of brake fluid level.
On my '05 GSA, as the brake pads wore down, the tide went out in the reserviour, and the light started to flash. Add Dot 4, problem solved.

Are you losing servo assistance aswell? I had the 4hz flash come on on my bike a few months back. On investigation I found that there is a spring loaded plate between the rear brake micro switch and the foot pedal. It had pinged out causing the system to be unable to complete it's checks, which in turn lost me servo assistance:eek: Took me a while to find the problem and 1 sec to sort it.

I may be wrong, but that experience would suggest to me that if it is a microswitch problem then loss of servo would be symptom:nenau
