ABS Not working after subframe replaced

Hi there,

I've just put in a replacement subframe on my 95 1100 GS and now the abs no longer seems to work. (The ABS light flashes alternately the whole time)

I've checked that the sensor connections are wired and it was working before I put the frame on so presumably I must have missed something but I'm not really sure what the best way to fault find it is now (or where the best places to look are)

Anyone got any experience with these kind of problems?

Try resetting it first, if that is you think it's all be put back together properly...

I guess you already know how to do it, and maybe you already have...

BTW how is Belgium these days...

Maybe you picked up a case of Long Way Round itis.

Yes.

I changed a alternator belt on a friend's 1150 GSA and after the job was done, the ABS started to flash alternatively. Reset it and all was OK.

To anyone that's done this, where is that 3 pin connector near to the toolbox the author refers to?

There is (afaics) only one 3 pin connector and the centre pin is white/black not blue

You are looking for a flat connector usually clipped in to a Blue coloured blank / holder

I'd upload a photo but I am on a mobile dongle (until new broadband connection next wednesday HAlleh Feckin Loo YAh!) and any pics take forever

The connector is right in the middle and totally obvious...

# Turn ignition off.
# Remove pillion and rider seats.
# Locate the 3 wire plug by the toolkit and remove the blue termination. (It's for diagnostics so is not connected to anything).
# Insert one end of wire into the *middle* socket.
# Clip the other end firmly to ground.
# Turn ignition on. Note that the two ABS lights continue flashing alternately.
# Hold ABS button down for 8 seconds. The bottom ABS light should stay on, the top one off.
# Release the ABS button.

* If the reset is successful, both ABS lights come on.
* If you didn't count to 8 or your ground is not good, then the top ABS light stays off. Start again and/or try pressing the ABS button before turning ignition on.

# Turn ignition off, remove wire, reconnect plug and refit blue termination.

Do you mean the double connector shown here with one green/blue wire? I thought I was looking for a triple connector . .

It is normally on the same branch of the loom as the CO pot cable and the redundant charcoal canister labda probe ones, as the bike has been apart its probably lurking there somewhere, as others have said theres usually a blue plastic blanking plug in it, and its a three in a row connector, on a recent bike I saw it had got under the fusebox on reassembly.

No David it is a very flat connector about 7mm thick and approx 20mm long and 20mm wide it has no fancy clips or fastenings and it usually clips into a female socket which is blue sometimes this female is clipped to something and sometimes it becomes loose over time

The diagnostic plug isn't in any of your pictures.

I expect when you replaced the rear subframe you've trapped it some place out of sight Which may also be the cause of your abs problem if any of the wiring has been exposed.

Yep Rabbitson, your white plastic clip is empty, Jaythro's isn't. Middle of mudguard just under forward edge of tool tray.

Mine has a slightly different connector but probably as a result of me changing the loom a while back.

But after connecting the middle blue wire to the earth of the battery as per the instructions, it works! Hooray!
