Just had my 07 diagnosed with ABS Pump Failure and a hefty bill of almost 2000 euro to get it back on the road.
I've done affair bit of research on the options but think all are beyond my capabilities and am now considering three
options.

1. pay the money, fix it and keep the bike for ever
2. Try to sell it as is
3. Continue to ride it without ABS.

has anyone else gone down any of these routes, mainly interested in #2 & #3 to be honest as 2k is so rich in a 07
bike for me it marginal if its worth it.

Anyone continue to ride with ABS Pump failure, any issues other than the obvious?

Cheers,
Jr

I buggered the ABS pump on my 07 RT by being over enthusiastic when opening up the pads to refit the calipers - I'm told

No problem with the brakes and a bit of black tape over the red warning text is just fine for the moment

Saving the pennies for RGM to fit a refurbished modulator - about £325 I gather with a 5 year guarantee

I just picked up my 1200GS on Friday and the previous owner seNt his to a German company who reconditioned it. Including p and p 979.37 euros. The e mail address is [email protected]

Remove the unit either DIY plenty of threads about that or get an independent to do it won't cost much then you'll never have the problem again :)

What did the original mechanic mean by ABS pump failure?
If it's the motor the fix for new brushes is quite easy. See the threads and You tube vids.
If it's the pump get a used one from motorworks.

Give Mark in Platinum Motorcycles (Bray) a shout, he'll point you in the right direction. I'm fairly sure he's a member of this forum.

I recently had the same, GS-911 reported two errors, both relating the power supply problem to ABS pump. Took the pump out, cleaned the bushes and lubed the brass bush and been fine since.

Probably took half a day, but I wasn't rushing.

ABS - ectomy.

I'd do as Dervman suggests and if it doesn't work, sling it over your left shoulder, new brake lines, no troublesome ABS and no more hassle.:thumb

No need for removal, it's not a servo/abs, it's just abs.

ABS

My ABS packed up a couple of years ago (07GSA) had the red light of death disconnected by a local independent. No problems since 10k covered. I do have a couple of other bike none of them have ABS fitted.

Chatting to a chap with an 07 GS ADV at Leigh Delemere a couple of days ago and he mentioned the same price concerns when his failed.
He told me Motoscott Luton sorted it for about £300 and took only two hours so did it while he waited locally.

Thanks guys, chatted with Mark in Platimum during the week and he'll sort it for me... Dropping it into him this morning.
Should be about 500 euro with a guarantee.... A lot better than where I started..... Thanks

Ropey, I removed the ABS unit from my 2004 GS the second time it died on me. PM me your email address and I'll send you on a document with photos showing step by step what I did to remove it.

If it's a late model 2007, it should have the new type non-servo ABS (ABS II) and that is fixable for reasonable money.

You need to get your hands on a GS-911 to read the error messages. It can also be used to test the ABS motor to ensure it's working. The most common problems are stuck bushes and a dry (no lub) on the brass bush at the far end of the pump. It's the same unit as fitted to some small cars so easy enough to get another motor.
