My abs has been playing up over the last 6 months and finally produced a solid fault code of piston fault 16 which returns after clearing. I have decided to remove my abs from the bike. My question is what parts do need to remove abs2 from my 2001 GS with brembo brakes. I have ordered a brake line splitter pipe from Motorworks but wondered if I also require new front and rear brake switches and/or new rear hose from m/c to rear brake caliper. And do I need to rewire any brake circuitry after removing the abs unit.

Thanks for reply. I did extensive searches on here, Google and on YouTube but couldn't find a definitive guide for my bike and abs setup. My closest guide was a YouTube of abs removal on an r1100 which has the same abs as mine. So I will start with the same approach and see where that takes me.

@quaycrest What are your Dash ABS Brake lamps like?? Two rectangles one above the other ?? which flash on and off together unless there is a fault ??

Or one that blinks fast and the other just on and off??

Do you have a Lights switch on your Handlebar (I suspect Not)

My answer depends what ABS you have to give you the correct information

How many Bleed nipples on the ABS unit will also answer the question 2 or 6 ?

Abs are two rectangles one above the other. Light are flashing alternately with the fault present. I have an abs and a headlight switch on my handlebars not sure which one you are asking about. 2 bleed nipples on my abs unit.

@quaycrest clear the fault just pull the blue relay in the fuse box

Pull the Bulbs on the dash panel

Job Done you have ABS II no pipes needed just do the above and once you pull that relay the fault can't happen again its deactivated

Servo ABS has Much more involved stuff to do it has 6 nipples as an Ident

Mine is a 2003 1150gs......is it the same? I removed mine successfully and I stripped everything off apart from the brains on the ABS.
No switches to worry about, replaced all line's with quality braided stainless and used the existing junction for the front lines.
The rear hose was fitted straight to the rear master cylinder.
A great improvement to the bike, I've never regretted it, I removed the brake warning light in the cluster.
The AVS is a heavy lump so it takes a fair bit of weight off the bike.
