ABS sensor tester

Hi troops

well after my recent spill i have managed to get all the damage repaired.

Unfortunately my ABS lights are now flashing alternatively as opposed to together when switching on ignition.

When i crashed the bike did a 180 and landed fair heavy so since then the bike ABS has been flashing.

the symptoms:

Switch on- ABS lights alternate slowly ....the blue ABS clicks with each flash of the ABS lights.

On switxh on/start there is no change to the light sequence and no clunk.....

I have read some threads on here and they suggests sensor faults.

can the sensors be tested with a multimeter? Im not a sparkie so how/what do i switch to on the multimeter to test the connectivity of the sensor....

Check your brake lever switch as well. It may be stuck on.

Had to do this in April after minor excursion into scenery, Jimmy coached me!

Resetting R1150GS ABS2

Locate the round diagnostic connector on top of the airbox
With a wire, ground the brown/blue stripe wire (pin #2) and keep it grounded.
(I used a small allen key and touched it to the top of the back shock mount)
Turn the ignition on
Hold the ABS button down for about 8 seconds.
Release the ABS button.
Turn off the ignition, remove wire.

Ride bike and you will hear the thunk-thunk of the selftest.

Check your brake lever switch as well. It may be stuck on.

Wrong. You're confusing servo/abs with plain and simple ABS..

He doesn't have servo brakes if he says the lights on/off flash alternately so the brake switches have nothing to do with the ABS function. .

BUt it may be of some use.

ABS II by the sound of it?

If you had the battery out usually early models need a reset before use

But inspect the cables close to the ABS sensors if they are cut or damaged that is likely where you have a problem if a reset does not work

On doing a reset as soon as you switch the ignition back on, you either have synchronous lights (Fault cleared) or alternating a fault has registered

Hi gents

been to NEC today

Did the reset last night and all is well. Was getting worried about the potential issues.... did the reset with earthing of blue /brown wire , pressed abs button down for 8 secs turned off ignition , turned back on all well...phew

must have been knocked when the bike had it little aerobatic session...

yet to do test drive...
