A couple of weeks ago the break warning lights starting flashing alternately indicating ABS failure (the bike is an )" standard GS with the integrated braking system.

Had it checked out at my local dealer who said the faults were inconclusive but had been cleared, but that if it happened again they'd have to replace the ABS transponder.

"What's that likely to cost?", I ask. £1,250 was the response

So, what do I need to do?

Can the engineers tell me more about what the fault is? Can I get a replacement cheaper than this (as I'll be changing the bike otherwise)?

I've searched for forum but I can't find any mention of stumping up this sort of cash!

Thanks

Tim

That`s bollox,that is.

The 'transponder' is the sensor...and they don`t cost that much.

If the whole ABS system was totally fecked,I`d just re-pipe my braking system for less than a hundred quid and do without it.

Just had a look at the quote - does it make a difference if its the ABS Modulator? :nenau

Yep, servo brakes. Never needed to know in the past - I pull the lever, it stops!

Get your bmw dealer to get on to customer services and see if you can get them to fix it as a good will jesture.Mine packed in last year the bike didn't have a full service history and was out of warranty bmw picked up the WHOLE bill :clap Keep an eye on Ebay they come up for sale from time to time i picked up a spare for £48 don't know if it works and hopefully won't have to find out.Sorry it's not for sale :D
