Accelerator Module and servicing.

I have an accelerator module fitted to my 04 1200. Have not had it seviced since fitting and am taking it in next week. My question is should i remove the module before the service. I understand that the module acts to "fool" the ECU into thinking the engine is running cooler than it actually is. Will this confuse the equipment they use to set up the bike during the service?

I didnt remove mine, just left it in, Vines said nothing about it.

I'd take it off. Why give them an excuse.
Oh, your final drive has gone tits-up - that'll be the fault of your unauthorised modification.

I would def. make sure you take it off if you have a smash. Before the insurance co. engineer comes out to assesss the damage.
Again, unauthorised, performance enhancing, modification.


Why give them an 'out'.

I'd be concerned that if you leave it on dealer's equipment might show the fuelling is not quite to standard spec and the technician would adjust it to get it 'right', thereby neutralising the benefit of the module. For that reason I take mine off before it gets serviced.

Left mine on for it's service at Bahnstormer, and no issues at all......

Left mine on for service at Williams, nothing said and I am sure if anything was done I would have been charged for doing it ..............

Maintenance SOP ...

... is reading out the fault code memory. If nothing shows up there the dealer normally has no reason to go any further. Unless there is a mandatory software update, or you explicitly asked for one.
As far as I can tell using a GS911 artificially lowered intake air temperature (PowerPlug in my case) does not throw any faults on a 2007 R12GS.
