Accelerator Module

Jens, I for one am happy to be on the waiting list.

Thanks. I'm doing my very best to collect the parts I need to assemble the new batch - and I'm already preparing purchace lists for batch after that.

With a little luck I should be able to ship units on January 8, but to avoid any disappointment, the "official" shipping date is still January 15 ;)

Thanks for your patience.

/Jens

Yonkyo; Having received my Accelerator now I need some guidence where it plugs into. The supplied instructions are not clear?

This is how I've plugged mine in, is it right?

Does it not just plug into the other end of the connection you dis-connected....bit like an extension lead.....:nenau

Yep just plug the other end into the connector on top of the air box:thumb

Thanks Yonkyo, I had another look at the instructions and just about made out the same as your photo. My photo and connection was way off, where you see the cable dangling, it's actually connected there at the bottom

Sorted, about to test this now!

Thanks guys, Mavn must have copied those pics and used in his instructions but it wasn't clear enough to read.

Recieved mine today and fitted it to my 08 GS1200Adv within minutes. Probably covered about 40-50 miles today on a mix of roads. My opinion is this; that for £29 delivered it's a steel! You won't find anything out there to boost your bikes performance at that price. My bike is noticeably livelier. I reset my MPG and during my mixed riding it returned to 44.8MPG from around 46. It's really hard to tell because I don't ride the same roads and it's very cold today which I believe decreases fuel economy also! I was looking into a Power Commander + Dyno = £500 then Yonko mentioned this device. At first I thought it was a gimmick! Anyways bought it out of curiousity as it was only a few pounds and it's the best £29 on my bike I've spent. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not ruling out a Power Commander in the future and this Accelerator is only a small improvement imo BUT it's a good improvement. Accelerator has made my bike ride the way it should have been from the start! Conclusion, very happy with what it offers - brighter & livelier on acceleration. Highly Recommended!

From which I infer that the Accelerator module also uses an NTC resistor in conjunction (parallel/series) with other fixed resistances to compensate for air temperature variation (or similar technology). This begs the question: is the isolation of the NTC resistor on the Boosterplug necessary? From Jenslh's website (which is absolutely excellent, by the way) "For reliability reasons, I wanted to cast as much of the electronics in epoxy resin, so only the NTC is on an external cable". I suspect they are both worthwhile products.

Hi,

I have the feeling that there might be confusion on the working of the module in other seasons...

I can confirm that a NTC is also used in combination with some other fixed resistors. I think the way Jens has written his information of the boosterplug on his website is exactly how it works (and I must say it is much clearer written than mine :thumb) and how my module is build up. I offset the temperature with -20 degrees over the whole temperature range, except for the minus degrees. The more minus degrees, the less offset you must give. You need to to this, otherwise too much fuel will be injected and your engine will not like it too much. I suppose Jens can confirm this. What I'm trying to say is that the module will work just fine under all weather conditions. :thumb:thumb:thumb (-100 degrees C  to +100 degrees :Motomartin )

hi mavn, just got your cable(very fast delivery cheers mate)will be fitting today and filling the bike up so will send feedback soon to this thread.people are saying that becouse of the cold weather you may not see a big differance, but hopefully when we are in spain again later in the year(34 degrees last year was the hottest we saw) on the twisties in the south it will show its self how good this gadget is cheers.:)

Sutty, Like mentioned earlier, it will do the job on the whole temperature range! :Motomartin

I also ordered another one for a mate on the 10th Dec. and it arrived today.
So i think Xmas is interfering with postage times.:mmmm

So you should get yours today/tomorrow.

Hi all,

I recently get some questions/concerns about the delivery time. I just see that the timings varies so much, going from a couple of days up to 2 weeks. I don't know what is going on with the UK postal service  (seasonl thing?)

When I ship one, I confirm this by email. At that time it is waiting for you as for me and hoping that the shipping time is short. I only can say that I don't have any controle over the postal service. If any has idea's to do it in a better way, please advise :)

In trying to get a laymans take on this then:

£29 buys you a great mod (accelerator) if the temperature is 20 degrees, not quite so great if the temperature is zero or 40 degrees (but still better than stock).

£100 buys you the same great mod (Boosterplug) but with the advantage of being able to adjust according to the ambient temperature so you get the same improvement right across the temperature range.

I will be thinking of either for when I buy my cat free headers to add to my Akra can on an '08 GSA, as up until now I have been resigned to the Power Commander option due to the lean running. Thats just too much money for me.

What would be cool would be a group buy, or a manufacturer like Keihan to pay a licence fee and make it an option with their headers.

Beemerman59,

As mentioned earlier, my module will work very fine over the whole temperature range. Maybe I'm not such a good communicator, since English is not my native language...

All good so far.:thumb
Us “Numpties” appear to reaping the benefits of this very inexpensive and clever (to me) device.:bow

Go ahead all you doubters. Spend £100+ on an essentially identical widget, wrapped in a pretty package. Or if you have a superior intellect, make your own.:mmmm

And I sincerely hope that MAVN makes a fortune on the thousands of units he’s going to shift.
:clap

There has been quite a lot of 'technical discussions' already, but for me what counts is the users feedback. As far as I heard, they all report the same feeling and benefits :thumb2

I'm happy with my module on my bike, others are also happy :bounce1 So what to worry? :)

I'll be very interested to hear your evaluation report after you’ve tried them back to back.:thumb

I agree. Jens device does look very pretty and he appears to be a diamond geezer. However, Mavn must have also put a lot R&D time in. and he’s probably making less than £10 profit per unit (I bet he’s a bit gutted he didn’t ‘Fancy’ his device up a bit more, then charged 4x as much:blast).

:Motomartin

Maybe I should sell a more fancy one at 4 times the price :thumb:)

Sorry for sending you a not clearer version of the instructions. :blast Maybe I'm been offseted because I know it very well and I just forget that it might not be as simple to others. I will try to rework the instructions so it becomes more clear

Mavn, please check your e mails - I have sent you one regarding delivery.

Many thanks
OldCroc

That is what I was doing the whole week. I suppose you are Geoff? If so, I have send you a reply this week and just 10 minutes ago. If you are not Geoff, please identifier your self so I can understand the problem.

Thanks

Blimey! Don`t sell yourself short Mavn.
Following this thread I think your English is probably better than 99% of the natives here!
