Go steady!

Anyone with an accelerator also have a K&N? Is it worth the extra £40+ ? I'm considering!

What a rather long and interesting thread. You have my interest. Currently I am in Australia and the summer temps this year are the hottest ever. Many days in the late 30’s and early 40’s.
So how will the unit go under these conditions? Does any one have any opinions yet?
I will purchase one soon as Christmas is over and test it out
Safe riding

I have a K&N that I used to have fitted to my previous 1200GS (with Full Remus/Akra system & WPC) That bike went like a rocket and was faster than KTM 990’s and Z1000 etc. 140+ mph.
I’ve held off fitted the K&N to my GSA, because I’m worried about my engine running too lean at a constant throttle, due to the Accelerator Module being inactive at this phase.
Also, having tested my bike with the Arka Can fitted. I have since replaced it with the OEM Can again. My bike just seems to run much better without the Akra (with or without the DB killer).
Therefore I’m thinking my bike may run a bit too lean again with the K&N.
I have also fitted an Accelerator to one of my mates 07 1200GS (with Remus headers/OEM Can) and he is gobsmacked by the difference in the way his bike now runs (smoother pick-up, no more lumpiness, better roll-on acceleration etc).

I'm now considering Power Commander and I suppose this makes the Accelerator redundent am I right? Havn't bought the Commander yet though! Correct me if I'm wrong but won't the engine add more fuell if it detects more air? Otherwise it won't run properly surely?
).

Yeah, if you have a full exhaust system + BMK filter. I would have thought that fitting a PC and having it dyno’d and mapped, will make the Accelerator redundant (someone here will no doubt take it off your hands though).
If it’s maximum speed and power you want, then the PC3 or PC5 and Dyno setup is the way to go.
P.S. I’ll give you 15 quid for your Accelerator

£15I've just paid £29
Although I want a power commander, I can wait. Want to fit the air filter and will see what difference it makes. But am nervous now cause of any possible leaning to the engine - but surely more fuel should be added by the engine to compensate?
. That’s were the PC & Dyno tune comes in.

I’m not sure how sophisticated the ECU is, that it will compensate fully for the high flow filter. That’s were the PC & Dyno tune comes in.
I honestly don’t think you will see any benefit by fitting the BMK filter with the Accelerator. But I could be wrong
Anyhow, swopping the filter is a simple job, so give it a try, and see what you think.

Fitted mine today. Makes driving in the snow and ice much easier. Fuel consumption is well up (i.e. less) too but that will also be influenced by careful riding but...
Its a thumbs up from me. Thanks
Please excuse the self quote..
Further to this, just rode 350 miles to Scotland and cannot believe the consumption. A shade under 50 mpg, fully loaded with all boxes and at an average recorded speed of 55 (the roads were OK so I was not slow on the motorways). The best I have ever had was about 45 on a run. Again, much easier to use on the snow covered back roads.

I spoke to my BMW dealer and have since got them to order me a BMK air filter ?
I've got a BMC air filter fitted to mine..... is this BMK another make or typo.
