Accelerator Module

If you have fitted a full decat system, your engine may be running a little too lean (even more so if you have a race air filter also).

Fitting the Acc. Mod. will help richen-up the fuelling. however, for best results, you cant beat fitting a PC & auto tune, or PC & dyno setup, or even an ECU re-flash.

All these other options will set you back around £300-400 however.

I have been running with Remus headers, Akra Can and Acc. Mod, for 15k+ miles so far, and all is good.

But IMHO, if you can afford it, you cant do better than a PC and Dyno tune.

Changed my mind, i am going to order one of these first. To save me trawling through the post, do you have the name of the company you get them from

Cheers:thumb

Have to say all in all I'm not 100% convinced .... yes i can already sense the daggers being drawn ....but were all entitled to our opinions .... of any actual changes in MPG or low speed ride ability when using the accelerator module (i do have to say though that I've only borrowed one)

In a few days i will be fortunate to also have a trial with the booster plug.... it will be interesting to back to back comparisons

Have you borrowed the right one for your bike?

The difference I noticed was a quicker throttle response. Hard to tell with mpg?

Biggest thing I've noticed with Power Commander is smooth low speed riding - very smooth + amazing mpg on runs. I've been getting 58mpg on half a tank runs. I've never reached 58mpg ever!!

Don't forget the Power Commander alters the injector signals "Post ECU" so if the BMW computer is using injector timings to work out MPG it may be based on the amount of fuel it "thinks" is being squirted in, as opposed to what really happens after the PC adds fuel.

It may be worth doing it the old fashioned way by seeing how much fuel is used on a long run / how far you get on a tank as opposed to believing the computer.

Did you take any steps to waterproof your PC?
I fitted mine a couple of weeks ago, bike ran sweetly but then I gave it a wash at the weekend and it ran like bag of nails, I'm convinced it was just water ingress somewhere.

it works

i just had my bike wired up to the diagnostic bmw software by Andy at collsprings mcs he observed that fueling was indeed changed for the richer and bike runs sweeter hes getting one for his own bike now so defo not snake oil
i got open pipe and k&n getting no pops on overun and nice smooth power all way through rev range

I've fitted the the cheap version of the Accelerator Module to my 2010 GSA in the hope of seeing whether a richer mixture may improve my bike's behaviour in a number of areas. This is the result of this morning's ride of my usual commute of 40 miles through town traffic, dual carriageway and motorway with an ambient temp of 10 degrees:

"Lurching" whilst riding at slow speed - much reduced.
Vibration under load - much reduced
Popping on overrun - didn't notice any this morning
Economy - too early to tell.
Engine hiccup/fluffing as pulling away - still had a minor hiccup once this morning.

Other observations:

Weirdly, unexpectedly, I could've sworn it felt smoother whilst cruising even though I understand that it should have no effect whilst on a steady speed/steady throttle. I'm just writing this off at the moment as an illusion.

Whilst pootling along at 30-40mph to get onto the motorway the bike just felt much happier trundling along in a highish gear with very little throttle - nice and easy and I was reminded more of my old Brit parallel twins (Norton Triumph AJS BSA) than the recent fuel injected boxers I've owned.

Acceleration out of roundabouts at say 30mph and onto a straight felt smoother, more relaxed and yet quicker in getting up to motorway speeds.

Over and above every individual facet of the bike's performance the real benefit is that that the bike just feels so much nicer to ride!

I can't say that the Accelerator Module is the best solution and can't say how it compares to the alternatives because I've not tried them. I also can't give you empirical evidence of any improvement as I've not dynoed my bike.

But I can say that for £30 this has made a marked improvement to my bike (according to the seat of my pants), addressed complaints that I had and confirmed that my bike was running too damned lean as standard.

For me at least, it's already proven real value for money.

No but I have heard of this. I did mention it to Tim Blakemore @ Bristol and he says he usually greases something up and PC are water proof! That was on the phone, he didn't say anything to me when I visited and I forgot to ask! :blast

I stripped mine back off after this problem, but intend to refit it and will this time use a smear of silicone grease to waterproof the connectors, we'll see.

...

Explain fluffing.
I know what a fluffer is, but what's fluffing ?

Ahhhhh

"fluffing" is a technical term used to describe a weak running, gasping engine that falters as its asked to respond....
All the above is made up by me ;)

Just ordered one. Let´s see what happens running with the shit fuel we have here.
