Fitted an AM today to my 08 GSA. 20 minutes start to finish, this did include looking for torx keys, drinking coffee and stroking dogs.

Been for a test ride in the rain and found that at lower speeds things do seem a little smoother. I have just booked it in to have it balanced/tweaked with a local BMW guru (not main dealer).

For those that have already fitted this mod is there anything I need to be aware of ? does it affect tank range/MPG ? any concerns ?

Many thanks

I have an 08gsa and was thinking of doing the same, but can you tell me who the local expert is and let us know if further improvement following the visit.
Cheers

Forgot to mention, I saw a huge thread on this very recently so well worth a look back but as I recall fuel economy was only marginally worse as the module only enriched the mixture over standard on acceleration and reverted to standard on a constant throttle.

Healthy

Here is a link to the chap who will be tweaking my bike, he is based in Sleaford so not too far from you. He has an excellent reputation locally for knowing his stuff, doing a good job and not charging the earth.

I am booked in for Friday 13th April so will post an update soon after.

Cheers

You know how to pick a day:D:D

Steve is a nice guy even though ex RAF:P, sensible aproach to servicing and support.

Fuel consumption on mine seemed about the same before and after.

Just runs that bit smoother down low

i took mine back off when i noticed how sooty the exhaust tailpipe had become-the inside of the engine must also be as dirty!
After a few thousand miles it had cleaned itself right up again

Update

PRO
Took the bike in this morning to have it set up after I fitted an accelerator module last week. What a difference. Running on a steady throttle through 30 & 40 zones is much improved and there is no longer the 'jerkyness' or the surging that was so noticeable before.

Acceleration is better too, very smooth.

CON

Was told by Steve that top end would suffer a little and the computerised average MPG figures would be slightly out. To be honest I am not at all bothered, if I wanted top end speed then I wouldnt have bought the GSA and I dont bother with the computerised bits anyway.

OVERALL

I would heartily recommend this modification, its a cheap fix for what can be a really annoying trait of the bike. When I mentioned the accelerator module in BMW dealership the guy on the parts desk said that he couldnt see how a £30 mod could have much of an effect and I should be looking at putting remus headers on to smooth out the ride. Price quoted was about £420 fitted

To date I have spend £30 on the module and £30 getting the bike set up. I am well happy with my £60 investment and would thoroughly recommend this to anyone. It has made a great bike even better.

Pleased that it works so well. However, did the "set up" add any further noticeable refinement on top of the accelerator module? Cheers

honestly

not a massive amount, but instead of the slightly delay between twisting the throttle and acceleration now it is instant. I am no techi and I sure if I get it wrong somebody will help me out but the throttle cable operates the left hand cylinder fueling sensor, the position of the left hand sensor is then copied by the right hand cylinder sensor. However as you would imagine there is a slight delay when accelerating as the right adjusts to mirror the left. If the left and right are not adjusted correctly then this can cause poor response low down and possible surging. Even on a bike with low miles this can happen as a result of the throttle cable settling down and stretching over time. I think I am right in saying this does not affect the 'ride by wire' bikes.

Ergo in my opinion once the module is fitted it worth spending £30 to get the bike adjusted.

Technical experts - if I have got this wrong please feel free to correct.
