Just reading another thread, and I'm intrigued by these. How many people here have them fitted, and what are the pros/ cons? From what I've seen, they are just plug and play, which appeals to me, as I don't want to go down the remap route.

Tell me more! :green gri

I have tried both the booster plug and the accelerator module and have both sitting in my garage waiting for a good home. They are both great at what they do and really make a difference to the low range pickup and on / off smoothness of the throttle. They are very simple to fit and can be installed / removed in less than five minutes.

fitted a basic accelerator module just after buying the bike, never took it off. Some say that the bike will re-compensate for it fitting - not sure myself.Seemed to help make it smoother.

I've fitted one of these to all of my previous GS/GSA's (none WC) with significant results. And i've just ordered one for my R1200RT LC, so we'll see how it goes (literally)

Which make did you get for the LC? Is it simply plug and play?

Just ordered the basic one, as the extended one is more suited to a hotter climate to the UK.
Yes, its literally plug and play and fire and forget, though i'm not sure where it plugs in on the WC's yet (there will be an install guide included).

But it took me less than 10mins to fit one to my last GSA, so i'm guessing it'll be similar on the WC.

You still haven't said what make you ordered! Or did I miss that?:D

Accelerator on my 'old' 1150...:rob

More bottom end grunt, no noticeable difference in consumption.... but I do have a few other mods too... :thumb

Easy plug and play fitting...

Now pay attention at the back please......I just ordered the BASIC one NOT the EXTENDED one...:augie:D

he may have meant http://www.sol2.be/

i had one on my 2009 and 2012 GSA and their was a slight improvement, not sure its really needed on the GSA LC i have now though

I didn't realise that accelerator module was a trademark, and only one company sold them :blast:D

Seems cheap though, so may give it a go.

I tried an extended Accelerator Module and took it off again. The benefit was marginal and fuel consumption quite a bit worse.
I now have a Power Commander. The PC or a remap is much better value though more money and effort to get.

I wonder if a Hilltop remap is viable as an alternative - considering the much increased level of digital supervision the bikes have now.

yeah i dont want any less MPG, im only getting high 30's on my GSA now despite the statements of better fuel economy than the TC, dont mind too much but on my fortnightly trip to the Ardennes i used to be able to ride there non stop, but i have to do petrol stop now, however, an arse rest aint the worse thing in the world :arselick:

i have one of these on the F800R - it seems to work and smooths it out at the bottom end.

mate of mine took some measurements from mine and made his own for pennies

there appears to be nothing in the wire's, but there is (i belive he said ) a diode and a resistor. The resistor was pennies from RS and likewise for the diode to give the values he obtained from my unit. I sullied hime with a couple of short 'fuel cut off' harness's from my work place which had an industry standard female connection (Bosch) fitted as standard, and seeing as he works for BMW he found the other end in the scrap / spares drawer.

All the accelerator module does is make the bike think the air temperature is much colder than it actually is. - so it dumps in more fuel

i.e. a resistor

The problem with the accelerator module and BoosterPlug (which I also own) is that the BMSK learns about the extra fuel through closed loop O2 sensor measurements. There is a solution that works very well with the 1200GSW and is easy to install.

In the middle of a long research thread of mine, someone reported their results using:

The AF-XIED for BMW on an R1200 GSW: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?p=23225111#post23225111

There is a lot of info (too much really) in the above thread explaining how and why it works.

Iv had one on my 1st GS hex also decatted, now got power commander & full BOS exhaust on 2nd one a no brainier :green gri
The accelerator works if you want to smooth out the lumpy slow riding fuel leanness, but PC is defo whey better also can be unplugged & bike will be back to standard again, thus you have resale value unlike remapping.

Horses for courses I suppose for £30 module is good value or just buy a PC it works though the whole rev range :D

Thanks for the responses, guys.:thumb The module looks much easier to fit than the power commander (bearing in mind I'm useless at mechanical stuff :comfort), but it could be worth the stress if it gives a better result.:thumb:D
