OK, it's daft questions night.

'04 1200GS, my accessory socket will only power my tyre compressor for a split second then it turns power off to the socket. Why is this? Because the battery is low? The bike starts everyday ok.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Has anyone bypassed the CanBus and wired the battery directly to the socket?
Or if I decide to do this, should I add another socket and leave the BMW one alone?

Probably, the can-bus is sensing more than 5 amps and shuts the accessory socket down. :nenau

So, how do I power my airbed pump from an accessory socket that doesn't put out any power? :nenau What a pile of shit that is! :(

What IS it good for powering then?

Wire up a new socket straight from the battery but make sure you put a in line fuse.

I wired up a marine quality (waterproof) 'cigar lighter' socket with in-line fuse (all bought from my local Maplin store) for about £5. Use this to power my GPS, tyre compressor and airbed pump.

Cheers

It might well be a software issue, Simon. Has your bike had the latest updates? I and several others had the same problem with the accessory socket cutting off after only a short while. It's solved by the latest update.

Thanks Schtum, I'll ask next time I am in the dealers.

Where would one mount another socket on the 1200GS?
