Accessory socket

Totally different to earlier BMWs
Canbus shuts it down after 15 mins................timed out, that's yer lot

You'll have to wire a optimate connector to the battery direct

No you don't. Sorry.

Neither my '04 nor my '08 1200 needed the BM charger. My cheapo charger plugged into the socket stays on for as long as necessary and happily goes through its cycles of off and on.

No worries.

No go on the Motobins (modern) cheapo battery charger, I'm afraid.

Looks like it's: Find an old one, or get an Optimate (via croc's or flying lead) or invest your life savings in BuMW's device.

Hello

Sorry on the R1200GS you would need to go direct to the battery as the socket will cut of on the timer.

Subject: Charger #99841

Could you help me, please.

Does your charger #99841 charge the battery via the standard aux socket of a BMW 1200 GS, with the Canbus system.?

Or do I have to connect it directly to the battery, via a lead or crocodile clips?

Many thanks,

Richard

Duff information, I'm afraid. Mine is one of these: http://www.mascot.no/admin/common/getimg.asp?FileID=1165 and it works fine. It goes through its cycle of 'off' and 'on' periodically with no intervention from me. Cheap as chips, I could probably supply some if there was enough demand.

Afterthought: I seem to remember that only the latest version of the 1200 software allows the socket to be used like this. Earlier (indeed, very early) versions cut the socket off completely; now it seems that it will respond to input voltage.

Excellent. :clap

Problem of expensive BuMW chargers and the inconvenience of Optimate flying leads / crocodile clips solved, at a stroke. :thumb2 Suggest a post in the 'Bargain section' :thumb2:thumb2 Prepare for an avalanche.

Form an orderly queue all those that want one....
