Ace Day

I was running real late after selling my R1200 panniers (plus getting my new Did chain fitted & sprockets)to GS-Elliott , met his mate Laurence (don't know his online tag)..which was nice as they cost me a small fortune. Glad to see them gone] Hope to have a ride-out in Yorkshire with both of them on this years AdamA rides.

Meet a few people @Ace-cafe, saw Greggers as he was leaving as I was arriving.. Nice chat with Puma, met Chad & a few others..

Bloody Klim kit was nice...also good to see the seriously expensive F800 expansion fuel tank (I really don't want one now I've seen it in person) from Touratech tent.

PS: Anyone notice the Cat from Red-dwarf? aka Danny John-Jules. :beerjug:

I too was there, good day, saw a few of our 800's there. Saw Puma's and Greggers bikes but did not know what you guys looked like so just marched around. Metal Mule had some new kit on display and Mr Plumb from Touratech UK was filling my head with ideas of entering the Dusk 'til Dawn race next year. Would have been even better had the rain stayed home.

Yes Northengit, that's him!

I'd say for next time people, first one their pops a UKGSer.com A1 page on a window & everyone signs it with there online tag's so we know who actually went...just a thought!

:blagblah

Maybe get some t-shirts with our tag's printed on the back? :hapybnce:

Wow, maybe even customised cap's with our tag's :ymca

ooohhh I bagsie the pink one! :D

I was there but unfortunately don't know what anyone on here looks like. A purple F800GS did park in front of my bike though - Anyone here?

double Jeopardy and skating on black Ice

It was a good Day in the end, started with Drama,

il try to keep it brief first i dropped my bike I was to meet Lord Vader and Chad in Wickford at just before 8 am came out in the Rain no problemb then as I came off the A130 turn off there was sand spread in the road i assumed deisel spill! :blast felt the back wheel twitch a bit then some more thought i had deisel on my tyres then it was ok for a bit then turned down a side road more twitch then all of a sudden broke into a Puma and Dean Bollero yep black ice not Deisel:blast slid on the right side side about 20'

Givi crash bars saved the bike.

she road was Ice with rain falling on it. So i righted the bike pushed it to a left side road into the curb. then along comes an Ambulance losses it on the Ice and hits me well my bike think i was lucky as i was around the bend slightly (yeah yeah in more was than one) it pushed me on bike forward.

my rugged road rear splash guard, saved my number plate

My bmw vario top box took the wing mirror slap and my Bell sticker bit the Dust.

The pour lady ambulance driver was horrified thought she had flattened me.
so she had to call it in and old bill come automaticaly!

heres My Jagd Puma tucked away from the skid pan, and this is mark a friend who was on his Harley (his other half his pillion suffered a ricked neck) as they came along 5 mins after the ambulance.

heres the offending ambulance in the distance ..:eek

chad and Lord Vader came out immediately on hearing but all was OK so after a bucket of coffee at Chads some mild pish taking it was off to the Ace.

Lord Vader led the way with his better half as pillion and Chad followed behind me with Mrs chad as pillion in case i tried a triple salchow..

I agree we must comunicate better for the next gathering i saw Paddy- GunzenBomZ ride in to the Ace and his bike is distinctive.

i just noticed Paddy you wrote text above in your bike colour :augie

I'm scared to ask about the 3rd thing that happened to you...

I've already booked into the HUMUKmeeting in June. Plenty of beer time to talk about the adventures were going to have... :beerjug:

I'm scared to ask about the 3rd thing that happened to you...

That was the third :blast the first was last Thursday night rear brake seized on rear disc glowed like a flying saucer in the Dark :blast

its been emotional :eek

Glad to gear that you escaped relatively unscathed Puma... I did exactly the same thing on my way to the bike show recently, only I wasn't run over the the ambleance :comfort

Greg

It just shows how important it is to have protection, crash bars etc (proper bike insurance!) otherwise it would have been tears ......

bit of a cricked neck this morning not sure if it was from the ice skating or the happy slap from the Ambulance. but could always have been worse its only scuffs on the bike which i will mend and replace the swingarm protector so I consider myself lucky:thumb

I stood there waiting for the Police waving cars to slow down all were losing it one car ended up on the oposite side of the road and up the kerb over the pavement and on the grass verge:eek: even the police aproached at speed onto the ice

I enjoyed the Ace what a breakfast:thumb and what a curious Moto Guzzi:thumb

Was that you that I bumped (while you were taking the last pic, above) into when I "reversed" my yellow 800 ??? If it was apologies!

Make one for Gunz in a nice shade of pastel mauve to go with his Big Purple One...

I google imaged that colour :P Narr not me :rob

Having seen everywherevirtually leaving as I was filling my gob with sandwiches I hope next time or rather some other event this year to meet Jon proper. :beerjug:

Wow, maybe even customised cap's with our tag's :ymca

...Maybe I'm going to bring the Fez (added name tag bling) back into fashion within the GS scene, just like that!

I lost count I bumbed into so many things the ambulance numbed me I was just waiting for a large bolt of lightening to finish me off  :shoot:

We must make a point of actualy all meeting up at the next event:thumb

Ying & Yang, you must connect with your other side to truely no-ones self...actually no. LOL

To be fair, we should just do some sort of UK-GS-F800 riders meet, why not. Few months from now etc...I'll point out I have zero ability at responsibility! :blast

The more annoyed I get at people's fantastic ability at disrespecting my colour of bike panels (Love a bit of banter/strokes white persian cat). I shall truely fk them off with carbon-fibre panels..oh yes I can...all in good time]
