Acer Aspire 5024, would you buy an Acer?

As my son is looking to buy a laptop I need some advice.The model he is looking for is the Acer5024.Seems twice as good as the sony vaio for the same cash.
Done a search and Richie bought one 2 years ago, anyone boght one more recently.

Got an Acer 1315LM - been a pretty good bit of kit. Did have a problem with the screen dying but that was replaced under warranty full collect and return service. No other faults or problems - does what it's supposed to. Mine's not a high spec one, about 2.4 gb processor nad 512 ram but it performs well enough for my purposes.

i have a acer 1363 wlmi laptop and a acer n30 pocket pc (that i use on the bike for gps and music) no problems with either of them. for me personally i think they are a good compromise between good spec and lowish price.

Yes too Acer Aspire 2000 series year and a half old no problems so far (touch wood)
