I want to put the Acerbis type handguards on the R100GS. It has OE heated grips fitted.

Can this be done without wrecking the elements?

The Acerbis have to be trimmed ( marked in pink ) to miss the brake master cylinder( I used a hot special soldering iron ).
The OE ones, although not as pretty:ymca offer far more wind protection than the Acerbis.

I put Rally Pros with the metal bar on mine and the handlebar fixing is of the rawl-bolt type so the likelihood of pinching the wires inside the bar is pretty high. Some people have modified, (shortened?) the bolt to stop it fouling.

I don't like heated grips so it wasn't a problem for me. I just cut them off.
You could fit Oxfords or some such that use external wiring.

If you add the optional deflectors, they keep most of the wind off your hands.

Thanks for the replies guys. Only your about 8 years too late.

Jill decided to stick with the OE guards.

Found out that touratech had a modified version in my copy of their 2008 catalogue which is compatable with the heated grip wiring, set went on eBay today for €81
