ACF 50 Anti Corrosion Spray

Hi All
Has anyone used ACF-50 Anti Corrosion spray on their GS? If so:
1. Would you recommend it (it's quite expensive at around £15 a can)?
2. Where do you spray it? Should any areas be avoided?
3. How often should it be re-applied?
4. Any probs from using it?

I've been using ACF50 for about 4 years now and yes I would recommend it. Although its expensive the can holds more ACF than gas so you are actually getting more, I think they say the can is 90% full (you can buy this is in bottles too). A little goes a long way too! I use a little paint brush to spread it around.
Obvious areas to keep it away from would be grips, footrest, brake discs, tyres etc but other than that use it everywhere. Its especially good on electric contacts and makes plastics shine.
Re application is dependant on how often you wash / get the bike wet, out of the way areas need only be done once a year more open areas more frequently, I re-apply after I clean the bike just to be sure.
So far I have had no problems whatsoever.

Yes. 1 can will do two bikes at least twice.

Everywhere below the seat line but avoid tyres and brakes. Use on old toothbrush near disks and on fastenings.

3. How often should it be re-applied?

Once in Autumn - don't wash off until spring, kust rinse away grime. Top up if weather is really bad. Fresh coat after proper wash in March

No

Often these are airfields ... get a litre bottle (with no propellant) for £20 something ...

+1 Just had my 08 GSA done at the Bristol venue they recently had. I ride all year as it's my only transport and the bike is like new. Good stuff

Get the bottle and an atomiser spray (often comes with). Warm the ACF50 in hot water before spraying as it forms a better mist then.

Squirt a bit in the can top then use a small brush to dab it in the spoke ends round the outside of the rims. Keeps the winter out and probably saves corosion inside the rims too. Only need a bit - and leave overnight to go thick.
Also good for the panniers if you have the ally ones. Squirt some on a rag and wipe over after washing. Doesn't stop scuff marks from the missus' boots but keeps the salt away! Repeat a couple of times during winter. Better than WD in padlocks to.

The stuff lasts ok but the can goes rusty, apparently.

warm the acf 50 first and paint it on a little goes a long way then just let the dirt stick to it

The front wheel splash is of major concern to me. I do the above, but specifically undo the bolts that hold the dyno belt cover, and dip them into the ACF. Then squirt some ACF in the threads too. I drive all year through, bike from 12/'07, and at 50000km/30000miles, no corrosion yet.

Just throw old oil/chain lube/grease/anything else gooey all over the bike.Most of it is free so much better than all this flash shite

I had ACF50 applied by Bahnstormers (A32 near Alton) when I bought my bike. Normally they charge £25 a go but they did it for free because I was spending £11000 on a new bike(???)

Alternatively just wipe WD40 in the recommended areas with a rag. It stopped my old Bandit going furry and Suzuki don't really have a reputation for a good finish.
