ACF50 and when to clean it?

I may be talking bol..ks here but im sure i read somewhere that spraying your bike with cold water when coated in rocksalt speeds up the reaction on the alloy.and you should use warm water to wash it off..

You should have read it (or remembered it) the other way around.....

Roy,
I am a member of the Ipswich IAM group and I thought a bike treatment day might be a good club event but I haven't had a lot of response as yet. I posted the suggestion on our forum (which admittedly doesn't have many users) and I only got one reply so far, and he wasn't convinced about the idea of spraying ACF50 and not washing the bike for months. I have copied his reply below and I would be very interested to hear your opinion.
:popcorn

Note....When the time comes to wash off all the crap, DON'T do it whilst your 'bike is perched on your newly 'block paved' drive.....The ACF50 stains the blocks.

If you decide to ignore this advice, 'Gunk Path and Driveway Cleaner' will remove the ACF50 from the blocks......

DAMHIK..........:augie :D

Crikey, that's the equivalent of a bike every 1.3 years. Have they all rotted away?

BMW 12gt last time no issues. Do about 15k miles a year. All the rest were mix of jap stuff only one that rusted was rgv250. 1 month old GS rust on spokes.

It's late and I'm bored so I read this thread...

Have I just slipped into some sort of parallel universe? It's very surreal in here... :eek

ACF Baby - - - - - The way forward

jesus that brought back some memorys. i'm going out first thing in the morning to buy my ACF50.

Hopefully in spring i'll wash her and she'll still be aparkly underneath. Dont want rust all over her when she gets picys taken of her in switzerland next year.......

i've signed up to All year bikers 'full valet service' on mine for next weekend. I can't face watching my GS disolve in the coming months.

Luckily I've been away for a number of weeks, so the bikes been parked inside. If I can avoid a trip in teh next week or so, then it'll have seen no salt yet this year.

I'll report back on Roy's (all year biker) service.

JP
