I have a non ABS Rockster.
Under the tank is a gaping hole where the ABS pump would have sat, just between the battery and the ECU.
I am thinking of fitting a second battery in line with the existing battery (so still 12v) to boost CCA for better starting etc, is this possible and is it wise? Will the alternator cope with charging both batteries?

I thought of doing that in the past but if your battery's in good order there's no advantage.

I'm sure you meant "in parallel" with...........

Won't harm the alternator, though. It'll just give you higher capacity for starting........... not usually a problem to be honest?

Easily done.......and if you use a split charge relay with a chunky switch, you could keep the second (fully charged) battery isolated until it's needed :thumb2

We did it on the Off-road sidecar build, with the second battery isolated to run a couple of LED floodlights for camping use.....it cut the primary battery out of the circuit at 12.8 volts so there will always be power to start the bike even if the floodlights drain the second battery, but it can be switched to the starting circuit if the primary battery fails :)

If yours is a non-ABS bike, it's OE battery would only have been 14Ahr. You should check that you now have a 19Ahr battery before adding more.

Aye, the wife's rabbit is about 3 foot long thanks to all the batteries in it? It lasts a good two days between charges though :D

I have a mains version if you want......triple ceramic drip isolator discs fitted too :)

(fekkit, if it works for overhead electric choo choo wires ;) )

No, that gap on the non ABS models is the place for a big fuck off horn.
HTH.
