Additional engine protection

I guess the down side of a head cover is that means the cover will be the first point of contact.

Needs something that increases the bar diameter at the same time to share the load unless it's a rock to the head of course.
Pretty poor design isnt it. Maybe some of those blocks that fit around the bar itself might be the way to go?

What blocks do you mean?

It's very easy to go overboard on protection and the bike looks daft...

Needs a feeler gauge to measure any gap although it’s not protruding as such.

Thanks for the photo, boy o boy that looks tight. Think i'll have a look at mine.

I can imagine with the lumps and bumps in most roads there's a good risk of still end up with a mild gravel rash in a lay over or a slow spill.

I might invest in those chunky wunderlich plate ones on my GSA, as usual looks good quality but mucho expensivo.

I have just checked my 2023 1250 GS. It looks like I have about 7mm clearance measured in the same way as GSMarky has.

Mine's a GSA just for clarity.

If you zoom in on this you’ll be able to see that they don’t protrude past the bars with the Wunderlich ones on.

Just checked my 1200gsa with OEM using the spirit level method above and there's about 10mm clearance on both sides so looks to be enough for a slowish spill.

My gs1250 with the OEM bars is a different story, the right side has about 5mm but the left only about 1mm using my eye.

i might try those blocks first on ebay above and see how they look, they're cheap enough at £9

Great,
You guys buy them , post pics and see what they’re like, if they’re any good I’ll get some 😂

Few other bits i may be interest in too 👍🏻

I think they'll do the job assuming it's a flatish surface should they be needed..

Looks like they do just what you need. Do the bars need to come off to fit ?
Nope. I tightened the lower fixings, left the top ones loose & then turned it on the bar to tighten the other 2. Pretty well secure I reckon..

I guess if you're really planning to drop the bike a set on the lower rail would help..

Thanks for that........ that'll do for me. I'll be adding these to the next batch of farkles ready for spring.
