I was on to Adelaide on Tuesday asking for my ins cert.
While I was on, I asked for a quote for a friend of mine.
Age? 25.
Full Licence? Yes.
Bike? Varadero 125.

Sorry, we don't quote on small bikes. We only insure small bikes if you've already got a big bike insured with us.
I asked him to clarify in case I'd misinterpreted him.
No, their underwriters won't quote for that business.
Would she consider getting a bigger bike, then we'll quote.

I didn't ask what the cc limit was but it seems bizarre to me. :nenau

Probably found they weren't making any money on em.

Exactly.
All insurers here 'cherry pick' - my premiums reasonable - my Sons would be nuts.
It's like getting a loan - the less you actually need it, the easier it is to get.

Like the bank manager - gives you a brolly on a sunny day & takes it back when it rains.............

All that I understand but...it was the cc that sparked the "we can't" response.
There was no hesitancy when I mentioned age. :nenau
Why is a 25 year old with a 125 more of a risk than a 25 year old with a 600?

It is a proven and consistent fact that larger capacity Bikes are "under represented" (i.e; less of them) in Road Traffic Crashes and so - insurance claims.
Not just here - all over Europe.

Maybe you could add your friend onto your policy, maybe get more friendly :kissy2
