I met Longdog at last months Abercraf meet-up and have just seen his post about getting some custom made gloves made up to accommodate his accident injuries. Along similar lines I’ve been trying to find somewhere to get a custom made elbow brace to make riding with my accident damaged elbow less painful.

Since my accident my left elbow will no longer straighten; I have lost about 25 degrees of movement in the joint. However when riding my bike, particularly when stood up off-road, my elbow keeps trying to fully straighten, and it hurts like hell (so I’m told). I would ideally like to get an elbow brace that has an adjustable hinge so that I can adjust the amount of “straightening” to suite my elbow.

Can anyone help or offer a lead?

mrs cookie got a very fancy carbon leg brace from the sports injuries people at snow & rock they might do something for arms too :nenau

warning: you might want to brace your wallet before making any enquiries ;)

Professional assistance

I know someone who had a specialist assessment done as part of motability assessment so he could continue riding his 1200.

Got some excellent service and some real biker advice on how to continue riding with considerable comfort improved. A variety of things including bar height, lifting pegs and so on, these people know there stuff. I expect they will be able to get you the right brace taking account of rider gear etc - not something the local Boots Branch might consider.

He couldnt fault the service. If you dont ask...

PM me if you want more details.
