Adv 350

Rode mine yesterday to work and back, what a great little bike, still not totally into the colour but hey ho

I popped into GT Motorcycles in Plymouth on Fri and managed to sit on one that was a customer's bike waiting for the top box to be fitted. They did have a Forza demo bike but reckons there won't be any Adv demos avail as they can sell them quicker than they can make them.
If I'd had the time I would have taken the Forza to see what it's like. Felt very wide around the seat area but I guess you get used to it

I keep reading and hearing that but as well as the one readily available in Peterborough today Grantham Honda had one on the shop floor available to buy when I was in there a few weeks ago.

Well, what a scooter. Just done 320 miles from home to holy loch today.
Enough go in it, especially for a ‘mere’ 330cc.
Very comfortable saddle, nearly as good as the wing. Much, much better than a GS.
Also it’s nice to be able to move the feet around.
Mirrors nice and vibration free, and the mirror extenders make a big difference.
Not certain about the screen, no buffeting but you definitely get full force wind on the helmet.
Now for the down side……..( don’t tell Arsey ). The gay liner isn’t a complete success.
The only real downside is the suspension which is poor on rough roads.

Really enjoyed the ride today. It’s definitely going around France later in the year.
Arsey said it’s more than the sum of its parts and I totally agree with that. It’s a fantastic buy at its retail price, even without a discount.
BTW,I’m large boned at 118kgs so some of these point would be better/worse far lighter riders.

Good to see you've got some good weather. May it continue for you. Are you just using the underseat area for luggage?
Enough go most of the time, and it makes me think about how sensible an overtake will be, or not.
I'm pleasantly surprised at the lack of vibration, only at idle does anything rattle at all, and the worst offender, the rear number plate, was fixed with some draught excluder.
For me I don't get any buffeting, and the only real change that I feel is that with the screen at its lowest, the chin vent works really well, so will be the default position in the summer. Noise levels seem to stay roughly the same, as I don't need to change the volume of the music on the sat nav.
I agree that the suspension isn't as plush as most "proper" bikes, but liveable with.
Off to Spain on mine and really looking forward to that trip.

I asked at Bill Smith’s Chester today. Demonstrator is due end May!

Honda have clearly a winner in their hands

Actually, the weather was atrocious when I set off from Lincolnshire. wet, cold, grey and foggy.lost the fog by Thirsk. But cold and wet until near Abingdon. The temp stayed at 9 c to that point. As I headed west towards Douglas and Muirkirk it got better but I was chilled through by then.
Yes, just the under seat storage at the moment.
As for o/taking, that’s a subjective thing. I did 3 ot,s between muirkirk and strathaven and 4 GS’s couldn’t keep up due to poor observation skills. 3 of them nearly wiped themselves out by going for it all together. Didn’t see the car just pulling out of a road on the right around the corner. Silly cvnts.
The average SENSIBLE RIDER WILL BE OK.

It’s not what you ride, it’s HOW you ride it.

Update.
Back home now, a round trip of 650 miles in two days. The ONLY weakness I could criticise is the suspension is a bit harsh.
The comfort is far better than any of the BMW’s I’ve owned. Partly down to being able to move your feet on the foot boards.
A real peach when you consider what it costs.

When I tried the ADV & the Forza before buying I was surprised that the Showa suspension was no better than the basic stuff on the Forza

I found it had a lot of sag as you get on but then it’s crashy, normally Showa is top notch, it was one of my criteria when choosing between the two bikes

Understood. I do wonder if it feels poor because I’m used to being on the Goldwing which has good suspension

Could well be, twin shocks will never be as good as a rising rate mono shock

Also, they’re only suspending the chassis, the motor is unsprung, so the springs will be relatively light but will need a fair bit of damping to minimize bottoming out with a rider and passenger, factor in relatively short travel and it’s not surprising they’re easily overwhelmed
