I've joined the ADV 350 ranks... It goes really well. Much better than I thought, and it's so quiet... oh, and 81 mpg! How can it do that dragging my lardy arse around?

I could do with a slightly taller seat, it's 100% fine for maybe 50 miles, and then it feels a touch cramped, maybe it's my spinal issues.. I'm going to dig out my inflatable Airhawk seat thingy and give that a whirl.

Anyone found a decent supplier of crash bars?

The Honda adv pack comes with OEM crashbars and spotlights. They fit well and look robust.

I had 2 GSs before the ADV but sold the last one 10 months ago, mainly because of the weight, it was a well sorted bike with Ohlins, decat headers, plus a performance enhancing gizzmo, but I don’t miss it, as the ADV does 95% of what the big GS did and I can take it and park it anywhere.

You won’t regret buying the ADV…

One of my farmer mates overwinters in Spain where he has a Honda SH350. He was telling me that big wheel scoots are the big sellers in Spain. Does the ADV350 have any advantages over the SH350?

I haven't ridden either by the way but and coming round to the idea of having one to add to the stable for short trips to the shop etc

Forget all this craze of hiring a Himalayan when you venture abroad unless it’s going to be on some serious pot holed river crossing trails.

I love hiring these things in Europe and the Med.
Go anywhere, park anywhere, carry and store anything. And all in shorts and sleeves, jump straight back on after stopping off for a dip in the sea on route.

I’d say a fair bit more under seat storage, better suspension, nice wide bars which are better for control and especially carrying a pillion, the mirrors are probably better too

He previously had a Vespa over there and from memory he changed that as he wanted a scoot with big wheels for when he is carrying a pillion ( his wife). I might be wrong, I'll check with him, he is back over in Spain at the moment for a couple of weeks to witness the eclipse.

As leadfarmer says with the wider bars and better quality suspension it’s like riding a motorbike , plus it’s got 48 litres of storage under the seat. It’s only 50 kilo lighter than a GS but pushing it around it feels like it’s 100 kilo lighter. For a machine costing £ 6,000 new it’s amazing value imo.

If you do get a midsize scooter it will be your go to ride.

That does seem to be the prevailing view. I do have a little trouble with the look of the bike, a little bit 'transformers' for me but maybe you get used to it.

That was one of the reasons I chose the Forza originally, the ADV just seemed to be trying a bit hard in a way to be something it’s not

I think the colours available in any particular year make quite a difference to the image, when I swapped for the ADV it was partly because a more sober, less in your face colour was available

I've gone to an ADV350 after 120,000 miles on my 2008 GSA.

Main reason really is that I just can't move the big bike around like I used to after my spinal surgeries.

I've had a new 2026 one in Iridium grey. It's the 'gloss' finish, not a fan of matt finish as it's a bugger to keep clean and maintain.

I have to say, it's a revelation. It rides and handles like a 'proper' bike, and you have no sensation of being on smaller wheels. It's just so very convenient. under seat storage is massive, I rode to work with a rucksack on first day and then realised it goes under the seat. Park up, helmet and jacket etc under the seat, walk into the office and job done, no faff.

Nip to the supermarket and 2 full carrier bags disappear under the seat.

Did I mention 82 mpg?

My only real upgrade so far are wind deflectors to take the breeze off the knees - £13 Ali express as opposed to £70 from honda. I'd say they're a must.

Performance is pretty good too, OK it lacks the sheer grunt from a 1200cc twin, but what do you expect. It gets up to 60 - 70 + leaving virtually anything on 4 wheels behind.

More than enough for me, and at £5,500 on the road.... bargain.

OK. I’ll mention the elephant in the room.
Zontez 368 G IIRC.
a pal has just bought one. As I loved my ADV 350 I took the piss out of him when he got it.
Then I took it out for a morning. I’m not taking the piss now.
Feel a bit more stable, bit nippier, more equipment, lower price. A definite adv 350 rip off.
In my mind it’s what the 350 COULD be if Honda fully developed it
The only questions left in my mind are dealer support, parts supply and residuals.

Don’t know anything about the dynamic advantages the Zontes has in it’s favour but with only £500 difference in the price of a new one I’d have to be convinced not to take the safe Honda option for now.

I believe the price difference is nearly a grand. However, I agree about the Honda being the safe option

Expect you’re right on RRP as only had a quick squint on autotrader at what the average prices are being touted for new bikes by the dealers.

Can’t remember seeing any Zontes round this way so will be interesting to see one in the flesh

They actually seem well built.

There is a Zontes dealer in Gib now, it’s the old Yamaha dealership. They lost the Yamaha dealership because they are a bunch of chancers and wouldn’t up grade their showroom. I see the odd Zonte in Gib, and a fair few in Spain now.
I wouldn’t buy a Chinese anything, but that’s just me, I prefer to spend my money where I earned it where possible, The ADV 350 is built in Italy, so closer to home.

A guy I know has ridden scooters for many years and has quite recently purchased a Zontes, I saw the bike at Masham last May and it looks superb

I'm told he has experienced some rusting issues on one of the wheel spoke areas, which I believe was sorted to his satisfaction
