I have just fitted a BMW adv screen, It's quite wider/higher than standard, using approx inch & half non adjustable mounts. The problem is it wobbles about a lot. Is there any way of stopping this? Mark.

It shouldn't wobble (other than a little flexing in the screen itself).

Check that the mounts are securely bolted into the sides of the instrument binnacle and that the screen bolts are tight in the mounts.

Mike:)

Done that.Even supplied with longer bolts to go through the extra wide mounts. Mark.

Seems to be screen and mounts. I think the problem is it weighs a lot more than standard. The mounts are wide, which does'nt help. I might try and use the old ones. at least then there will be some adjustment. Thanks. Mark.

I'm in the process of fitting an Adv. screen - I don't think you can use the regular 1150 mounts? Have you got the black plastic spacers that take up the extra screen width at the mounting points?

Hi Mark

It should fit as solid as a rock.

Check that the mount/spacers on on the correct sides as they are different shapes to each other. Then check that the mounts are secured tight and attached the screen with the covers that go on the outside of the mounts.

Failing that get a look a another one fitted to an ADV and compare - Trust me though mate it does fit an 1150 securely.

Steve's right - the std GS mounts and those from the Adv are not interchangeable.

Don't know what else to suggest, assuming you've checked everything mentioned - certainly doesn't sound like the Adv screen I had fitted...

Mike:confused:

I sold the screen to Mark. I have had it fitted to my 1150 for six months without any problems and have supplied all the bits to MArk - I suspect it's a matter of it being fitted incorrectly.

I assure you gents, it is on correctly. You cant put it on any other way. I just dont like the way it moves!
