adv se gearbox

IIRC it was an optional extra. If you ring a BMW dealer and give them the registration number, they can check their computers to see whether a specific bike was ordered with a standard 1st gear or the enduro first gear.

Low gear

Pretty sure it's low across the board with the SE.
Mine's defo low.
Seeing as it was limited edition and not pre-order there was no choice in the matter as far as I know.

I would imagine she'd be a lot tougher work without it.

cheers

thanks for responses, :thumb :thumb

According to the dealer my SE doesn't have the low 1st gear, but it does.
I think all SEs have the low 1st gear, so it isn't an option, therefore it doesn't show up on the computer check :nenau

But then again.....

I've had both low and high 1st gear versions and the lower one is definitely better. There isn't much difference between them but to me the 'high' or standard 1st gear feels too high, especially when off-road.

To find out which you have....

Just ride it in first gear,

20mph @ 2500 rpm = normal ratio
20mph @ 3000 rpm = low 1st gear

Feck me, why do peeps worry about it so much - 99% of people wouldn't be able to tell the difference when riding with the different boxes.

Thats why they're always having to ask what ratios they have, and have to ask a dealer to find out for them

Does that mean you don't know the answer but felt the need to comment anyway?

To right it does - it's not my bike, and i've never ridden it, or even seen it - so why should i know what gearbox you've got .

Tell you what, tell me how much fuel in my tank, and tell you what gearbox you've got :D :D
