Anyone know what is involved (apart from buying an Adv seat.....)?

I know the front mount is different (rubber bungs instead of slots). The back appears to need whole new rear end! Any idea of cost?

Have my eye on a tall custom Adv seat.

There are a fair few items that are different. PM me your address and I will send you a copy of the lists I had when I sold my Adv seat setup and went to the GS one.

For what it is worth the Adv seat is bloody horrible for any distance. A real pain in the arse.

I agree - I now know why any intrepid adventurers, travelling round the world, are always stood up.....

You'll probably be better spending your money on a modified seat, actualy a couple of bricks and a short plank would be more comfortable than the Adventure's... I really miss the seat on my Ducati 996 -in comparison it was luxury. ;)

:D just changed my standard 1200GS seat for adventure seat went straight on and improved comfort 10 fold no extra parts needed.
may be different for 1150 not sure which bike you have
hope this helps :beerjug:

Many thanks for the feedback - I was interested in a modified Adv seat that was more comfy etc.

I realised the std Adv seat is a vinyl crucifix!

However I'm now looking into modifying the std GS 2-piece seat, [email protected] quoted £130 (very roughly, based on my spec to raise front seat, add comfort to both and finish both in weave-stylee) to rejig both seats, so may go that route.

See here for example on Mermoto's bike

Rather than going for the adventure seat, you might want to consider the touratech seat. Mine is the high seat, did 600km on it couple of weeks ago no probs.

Any ideas how muck lower the touratech seat is than the 1200 adventure.
