After having no luck finding a secondhand (cheap) seat for reshaping It was looking like I would have to buy a new one. At £150 plus the reshaping costs it was getting silly, so being a tight fisted git I decided to have a go myself
De-stapled the covering. removed it and cut down the foam to fit my ass. Re-fitted the cover and went for a ride.
Wow much better :)
Also have the advantage of being flat footed on the floor, even with the sheepskin on top.
So saved a shedload of money, job only took about an hour, well pleased.

:beerjug:

Not a bad looking job Woody :thumb

I wonder if it'd be worth soaking the cover in warm water to stretch it a little so it gets a little taut after refitting and avoids any little bumps and creases??

Just wondering....no criticism ;)

Our Woody's a bit of a handy fella.

Fancy a job doing the seat on my GS? :D

Didja take any pics with your covers off?? Oeeer.....

Looked again and well impressed you've managed to keep the seam on the red/grey in a nice arc still....the foam inside must be pretty firm?

bloody art students... ;)

Bill.
Yea at the moment the cover looks a bit lumpy, reason is I first of all tempory tacked the cover back on to see what it felt like streched over the re-shaped foam. The lumpy bits are slithers of foam still stuck to the cover underneath. The foam is actually stuck to the seat cover with some form of glue so you have to peel it off. Just like skinning a rabbit really. I will remove the cover clean these off and then fix it properly all the way round underneath.
Will take some pics of the foam etc before I refit the cover.
Foam is fairly dense, and cuts nicly with a long sharp knife, after this I used a Black n Decker powerfile to smooth out the cut ridges in the foam and further reshape the seat.
I will use a hair drier to soften the Vinel as I stretch it for the final fix.

Not sure I could cope with another side line Alan :( But................ Good excuse to maul your ass Shazzy for the reshaping... :D
