I was

Offered on for £350.. already sprayed blue..

Looked into the costs of having it sprayed manderin..
£100 to remove and prepare for painting.. between £100-250 for the spraying to manderin. Add decals etc..

I decided in the end i couldnt justify it.. as i usually want to have a stop after 150miles.. and stretch the legs, so tend to fuel up then too..

Paid £170 for my black Adv tank. It had a scuff on the rear part, which I've covered with the BMW tank pad kit.

Having the choice of going 330 miles before having to stop is nice. If I want to stop earlier I can, but I went to Princetown last month & went from Preston (Lancs) to Exeter on one tank.

Would I swap back? No thanks.

Try ringing around a few BWM dealers in your area (don't try it in my area!) and see if they have any insurance jobs. Some only have dings and dents so maybe a bit cheaper than the £553 Ocean informed was the price for a new one. Last one on E-bay went for £360, £10 more than my bid (bugger!).

Keep looking mate.

I just recently swung an insurance deal - worth noting if any find themselves in the same position... my standard GS tank was damaged and insurance agreed to replace it...I discovered that an unpainted primed Adventure tank was quite a bit cheaper than the replacement painted standard 22l ... I requested the cheaper tank and paid for the painting myself (could probably have asked to have them paint it and would have worked out the same as OEM but wanted to make it attractive for the insurance co).
They 'bought it' - and I now have a beaut 30l+ Mandarin Adv tank!!! I love the range and look.:D

How much!!!

That's outrageous. If you can get the tank off I'll spray it for £125 plus cost of decals, plus VAT. Any colour you like, I have the full range of all the bike colours for all models.

Mine was sprayed manderin, the match is bob on £115 at a local spray shop. Looks better without the decals. Make sure you get the MBW badges for the adventure tank as they are different from the standard ones.
