Adv tank problem.......

I took the fuel pump off the bike and wired it directly to a 12v battery, it purred like a kitten!!

Could it be that the male electrical connection from the fuel gauge/pump with the 4 wires, do not match up properly to the female connection?

All fuses must be fine as the original tank is back on and the bike is running fine.

Any thoughts/advice as usual, greatly appreciated.:beerjug:

I'd sell the tank (obviously broken) and by mine.

Fuel tank.

Here's a bit more useless help(?) Right so the pump works, now test the wiring (each bit) with a meter from the plug on the tank lead, on to the actual connections on the pump, put one test lead on each end of each lead and make sure you have continuity ( I.E. there's not a break in the wires). Check all the leads from the pump/gauge sender and make sure that there's continuity on each, if you havent got a meter borrow or buy one, any cheapy will do for this job and I'm sure something will show up. This is supposed to help but it is very difficult when the problem is not in front of you in your own garage. Good luck but DO use a meter don't rely on looking and pulling the cables about.
